The CCCB aka Centre de Cultura Contemporania opened in 1994 with the aim of renewing the rundown district of Raval. Taking up 15,000 square metres, it is the largest cultural centre in Spain, and plays host to the Sonar Advanced Music Festival each year. It is located just a few blocks from La Ramblas.
