  • With each ReviveHER dotted across the planet over the last few months, we're happy to announce that the finer details of our next party have finally been completed. So, without further ado and anymore procrastination, here’s a classic line up from across the globe, linking Japanese friends with Europe’s no.1 synth-nerd, his stateside buddy and some undisputed home grown talent, all housed at a fully ReviveHER decked out multi-storey pleasure palace that will be baptised with a special makeover for it's RHER debut. Our signature decor will be assisted by a very special, brand new sound system supplied by TPI Sound. TPI’s extra large stack, a revolution in speaker design, provides pure, organic sound with 130 degree dispersion. So far exclusive to Warner Music, Mondrian Hotel and now ReviveHER. This will all be taking place over both floors at the CLF Art Cafe / Bussey Building in Peckham! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ LEGOWELT - Live It’s easy to lose yourself in Legowelt’s kitsch, self-constructed universe. On his website you can browse his studio - the ’Mystic Sound Research Institute’ and his self-effacing humour slowly draws you in. His love of analogue gear borders on the obsessive (naming his last album after his JV 2080 and recording a video interview just about it!), but with powerful results: just check his Machine Love RA feature or the Future Music Magazine video from this year. There are endless, hilariously named tracks for download including ‘TV show with cats on the beach’, a short movie and TV commercial soundtrack for Microsoft as well as a bunch of ‘Weird stuff’ (- exactly as he describes it). He’s also written software that ‘makes contact with the unseen world of ghosts’, writes an 80s e-zine “Shadow Wolf” and finds time to provide home made sample packs for aspiring young nerds from his huge array of vintage synths and drum machines - thanks Danny! Tongue in cheek yet true to his passion, Legowelt produces music at an alarming rate. Not only is he tirelessly diligent but rarely off the mark. In recent years his spooky jams have found a home on well known credible labels that all share a common understanding of house and techno with a raw, analogue and alternative edge - Clone, Rush Hour, L.I.E.S. and Creme Organisation. His 2012 album Paranormal Soul scored rave reviews and is still hailed as the beacon of synth drenched electronic soul and the 10 EPs and 2014 album Crystal Cult 2080 have all maintained that incredible high bar. A law unto himself, we can’t wait to see where his live show takes us. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Kenji Takimi (Crue-l / Being Borings / Japan) At ReviveHER we love a legend and Kenji Takimi is certainly no exception. One of a handful of DJs worldwide whose music taste and style can’t be pinned down, much like Harvey in UK, he’s gained legendary cult status in Japanese club folklore. Coming from an indie-rock and new wave background in the 80s and the editor of “Fools Mate” magazine, Kenji started DJing when disco/house hero “DJ Emma” was intrigued to him play his already diverse, growing record collection. Born out of a stream of demos from bands, his label Cruel-L recordings, now with over 150 releases, has been at the forefront of alternative Japanese dance music since the ReviveHER crew were in nappies, kick starting the Tokyo scene, bringing names like Harvey, Eric Duncan and Theo Parrish into public consciousness from the mid 90s and giving platforms to Japanese producers such as Hiroshi Fujiwara, Towa Tei (Dee-Lite) and Cornelius, as well as bands and alt pop acts like Love Tambourines, Port of Notes and Kahimi Karie. His latest studio project is Being Borings (with Tomoki Kanda), but he has also recorded moniker under Luger E-Go and Crue-L Grand Orchestra, a live disco band comprised of VA from the label and influenced by “This Mortal Coil”. One of Japan’s busiest and most sought after DJs, Kenji has worked with the Cut Copy, Sebastian Tellier, Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Dmitri from Paris and new starlet Nina Kraviz. Kenji has also been DJing since 1989 and performed alongside Andrew Weatherall, Armand Van Helden, DJ Harvey, Theo Parrish, Felix Da Housecat, Rub N Tug, Idjut Boys, DJ Alfredo and Optimo, amongst many others. A strong support of vinyl and indie label culture, he could drop a song in a mix not related to club culture or dance music but that he feels can still fit in there. He tries to draw a picture when he plays. Expect to hear Captain Beefheart, Killing Joke or Siouxsie and the Banshees amongst rare disco, his friends’ edits or Japanese alt pop and timing a hit as well as an undiscovered gem to much aplomb: his Beats In Space mix was picked by Tim Sweeney as the mix of the year in 2010. Bring on the master selector! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ WILLIE BURNS (NYC) Alongside Legowelt in room one, we have his buddy Willie Burns (with whom he recently started a bewildering yet hilarious online TV show featuring the pair of them getting up to all sorts). Akin to Danny, Willie, also referred to as DJ Speculator, is much less interested in satisfying the status quo than doing his own thing. Not one for many interviews, the elusive character prefers to let the music do the talking. The New Yorker has been there, seen that, done it all. He’s been assisting diggers at The Thing record store in Brooklyn for donkey’s years and has released music under different monikers (Black Deer, Grackle, CF and Daywalker) for over a decade. He’s recently gained more recognition though for his releases under Willie Burns on heavyweight outsider house labels such as The Trilogy Tapes, Creme Organisation, Unknown to the Unknown and the inimitable L.I.E.S. Albeit rooted in the New York scene, his sound is best defined by it’s eccentricities (and very comparable to compadre Legowelt) - an ear for the curveball that he’s extended to his label WT Records. Big Willie style! It’s not just his groovy, windswept productions that have earned him serious rep with heads across the world (check latest release Everybody Everybody for example – a brilliant reinterpretation of a classic), but his DJ mixes have also made tidal waves of their own. No surprises there all those years spent working at diggers’ Paradise “The Thing”. His L.I.E.S. podcast came 3rd in Crack Magazine’s “Mix of the Year” amid surprisingly big names. XLR8R and Beats In Space podcasts spread his gospel further. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ GONNO (JAPAN) Gonno is huge DJ in Japan, playing regularly at the big three (Womb, Air, Unit) and most festivals. He’s now cementing this reputation with a 2nd European tour which sees him play Homopatik, Wilde Renate and ReviveHER! Last time we had Gonno it was at our invite only event that ended up getting shut down due to the sheer number of ReviveHERs cramming in to see Gonno in action. So we figured it only right to bring the Beats in Space / International Feel artist back from Japan for all to enjoy in a space more befitting to his status. Having booked Legowelt for this over 6 months ago, Gonno requested to be brought back to play specifically with his mate Danny when he played at the ReviveHER Tokyo party in March. Bi-Bop's gone all the way back over there the last couple of months just to fulfil this request and dream lineup, and being able to add our special guest TBA from his travels to the bill. Gonno's warm, bubbling deep tech-no-house sound sits perfectly alongside the Dutch whizz kid as well as Willie. One of our favourite producers of the moment, his tracks are hypnotic, psychedelic and propulsive. It’s a sound that’s won him admirers ranging from Dan Avery (check out his guest appearance on Dan’s Rinse FM show), James Holden to Jeff "The Wizard" Mills, for whom he has remixed and DJ Harvey, who he shares the same label with and is about to drop another release on. His latest track was just released on Endless Flight's "I’m starting to feel Okay" compilation, amongst some killer names. He also has an album due on Mule Musiq and we're delighted to announce that he will be appearing on our label roster too in 2015. Check out his Boiler Room debut from his last visit to London. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ESA - Live Debut Analogue Set Our final guest is Housemate, Studio partner, friend and forthcoming ReviveHER artist, alongside Henry Bennett (see Time of Planck), Esa. An integral part of Auntie Flo, one half of Prophets of the South, as well as a producer in his own right, with releases on Burek, Huntley & Palmers, Highlife and Tief (scoring 4/5 RA reviews all the way!) By way of South Africa, via Glasgow and now London, conducting workshops on behalf of Ableton, Red Bull Music Academy and Apple in the day. By night, rocking any dance floor in the biggest clubs across Europe or back to the "Motherland" (Cape Town Electronic Music Festival and Lake of Stars in Malawi) either as Auntie Flo Live or solo as a DJ. It’s no surprise that he’s been championed by publications including XLR8R and Resident Advisor – bagging the coveted ‘Mix of the Day’ accolade with his Afro-Futurism mix for Fabric. We proudly present his live debut - an exploration of recordings made in Africa and Cuba with analog/modular synthesis (MPC2000, Analog Systems Modular Synth and some Roland classic synthesisers). Expect something a bit different and unique - an experimental jam where anything could happen. Who knows, perhaps Legowelt might even join in. Check out Esa live with Auntie Flo on Boiler Room ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Rye Wax In Store w/ Gonno + Special Guest TBA @ 6:30 - 9:00 And just when we thought this shindig couldn't get any sweeter, our good friends over at Rye Wax asked us if they can join the party - a request we were only too happy to oblige to! Arbitrers of impeccable taste, this excellent new Peckham Rye vinyl emporium is an integral part of dance music and vinyl culture in South London and notably Peckham (being the only new vinyl retailer in the whole of South London). Ideally the record store is located in the basement of the Bussey Building. We're huge fans of what they're doing and having done something similar in the early days of Kristina Records with Tim Sweeney and Auntie Flo, when we did our EFES snooker club rave, we couldn't think of any better way to start the night. So it's with great pleasure we can announce a special Rye Wax instore event featuring Gonno and another guest from the line up TBA spinning a preview of their record collections ahead of the party. Join us from 6:30 there for some beers, fine music, record shopping and a chance to meet the crew and artists. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ReviveHER presents Room 3: Rye Wax w/special guests TBA and Rye Wax Residents And as if that wasn't enough, we also be turning the Rye Wax store itself in to an extra room 3 on the night due to the unexpected demand in ticket sales and because we thought it would just be a cool idea! You will be able to access room 3 internally and from the main courtyard. The local record store will be installing their own sound and playing something a little different to rooms 1 and 2 on the night. The Rye Wax residents, consisting of Tom Unlikely, Sam Hollydale, Elysia (The Soft), FYI Chris and Chris Watson (Piri Piri), will be joined by two very special guests closely associated with the record shop. For those in the know, you might be able to take a good guess. They're might be a mention in the Rye Wax Boiler Room show too. The full Rye Wax line up will be announced in the final week. We couldn't be more excited to have them on board, adding even more gravitas to a line up that's already beyond heavyweight. "Tom Unlikely" was recently picked out by FACT Magazine in their 100 underrated DJs poll who quoted "Part of the team behind South London's Rye Wax record shop, Unlikely has been resident at several London clubnight across the years and also co-runs the Wavey Tones label. His background in industrial and black metal, as well as having a hand in the dubstep world from very early, all add an edge to his deep and electic selections." Piri Piri has just released "Low Earth Orbit" on tape and FYI Chris has a release forthcoming on Church. Rye Wax Room 3 Line Up: Special Guests TBA Chris Watson (Piri Piri) FYI Chris The Soft Sam Hollydale (Feather) Tom Unlikely ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ReviveHER Residents In full force with Bi-Bop back from a tour in Japan and Asia, including a full-fledged ReviveHER party in Tokyo at one of Tokyo's biggest clubs, Origami; Will Best from a season in Ibiza DJing and presenting TV show “Ibiza Uncut” and Nick holding the fort and working on the upcoming label in London, all 3 residents will be back together for the first time since April! They will be joined by 20 year old rising starlet and Hackney Wick local and another South African, Kurt Herbst, who played at our last ReviveHER party in Tokyo. With guests from 4 different continents, all of whom have been carefully selected and shares close ties, 2 live performances, a bespoke new soundsystem, our first party in Peckham and a Bussey interior transformed just for this one night onlu, this party is not to be missed! With this launch being so late, we've submitted a super limited run of cheap tickets now available at £6 and £8. They won't last long. This may be our last party of the year until we return for our 5th Birthday in March 2015, so join us for one last dance before the year's through. As always we advise not to leave it until last minute. Our last party in South London sold out. Full price tickets will be available on the door, although we can’t say how many yet and they will be more expensive. We look forward to seeing you all there… ReviveHERs North, South, East and West.
