WE’RE TURNING EIGHT!
Bloody hell. It’s been a pretty epic ride, partying with dozens of the world’s best DJs in all of Sydney’s top dancing spots. Looking back, the list of acts is just insane: Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, KiNK, Derrick May, Moodymann, Maurice Fulton, Pantha Du Prince, Gerd Janson, Ivan Smagghe, DJ Sprinkles, Moritz Von Oswald… We could go on and on, but for right now let’s look at what’s on the horizon for birthday celebrations.
For this one we’ve teed up an extremely special guest for his first Australian appearance. A masterful veteran from Japan whose beautiful house productions were given a fresh platform last year thanks to Hunee:
SOICHI TERADA!
The man behind Far East Recording has churned out a massive discography of distinctive, uplifting house since the early ‘90s, although it was 2015’s “Sounds From The Far East” compilation, curated by Hunee and released on Rush Hour, which flung Terada back into the western club music spotlight. A collection so glorious that it ranked as RA's #1 comp for last year, thanks partly to huge tunes like "Do It Again" and "Sun Shower". He’s a dude who oozes positivity, both through his music and that wonderful beaming face that adorns the album’s cover, and it’s easy to see why he’s been so enthusiastically embraced by the world’s dance community.
And now he’s coming to headline our birthday party!! Straight after his debut US tour in February, Soichi Terada will bring his celebrated live show to Picnic for our 8th anniversary shindig. We’ll be throwing down at the primo Jam Gallery with one of Sydney’s tightest systems.
It may have been a bumpy couple of years for dancing in our city, but we’re still going strong and are committed to delivering the best music in the world to the best people in the world - you!
