RA in Residence: fabric in Collaboration with The Hydra

  • The London nightclub was meant to be the December home of In Residence, our ongoing series celebrating club culture, but plans for four events across the month were scuppered when the club's license was revoked and it was forced to close back in September. In fabric's absence, we're teaming up with The Hydra for a special event at Studio Spaces on December 17th. Clubs are the beating heart of dance music. In Residence throws the spotlight on venues that keep their local scenes flourishing. Week-in, week-out, these clubs—and hundreds of others in cities across the globe—open their doors to play the music we love. They provide a platform to nurture upcoming talent and showcase revered international guests in an environment with great sound and dedicated staff. Without clubs, we have no club culture: the people, the sounds, the moments. This special one-off celebration of the iconic Islington venue will showcase the breadth of sounds heard over a typical weekend. The two-room lineup that captures the techno-centric spirit of fabric's Saturday nights, as well as the more bass music-focused Friday FABRICLIVE nights. Jeff Mills will headline the main room alongside fellow Detroit favourite DJ Stingray, while two generations of UK techno's leading lights—Blawan and James Ruskin—play back-to-back. The main room's hard-hitting lineup is rounded off by a live set from Ancient Methods. In room two, we've got beloved fabric resident Craig Richards spinning back-to-back with Ben UFO, who came in at number four in last year's top 100 DJ poll on RA. They'll be joined by drum & bass head dBridge, Shed (under his breakbeat rave alias Head High) and SAOIRSE.
