We are facing the most funny, funky, edgy and creative ROCKIT Open Air. On July 25 the Maarssevense Plassen will be one big Play Ground for the kidults where you can dance and jump for joy on the music of the different music areas and stages.
Get ready for the best edition of ROCKIT Open Air up until now. Efforts have been made to improve the festival, changes have been made to avoid ques at the entrance and bigger tents have been ordered, as well as more shelters to hide in case of rain.
On the music side we’re also taking it to another level. The island will be an oasis of
funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz en dub-step, in cooperation with Pacific Parc (Amsterdam) we present a mixture nonsensicalness where you can also chill in a hammock with a cocktail in the hand. Pacific Island it is!
Besides hip-hop at Spunk Sessions (hosted by Jawat!) we are moving further and have invited the legendary Gilles Peterson (UK) as well as the multi talented Ben Westbeech (UK) to play alongside DJ Chef (UK), Garfld (Fr), Gomes and others. Expect music styles like breaks, dubstep, nu-breaks and all in between that keeps you going.
Static switched areas with 365Live and moved to the end of the festival where the open and frivolous character of this stage fits better for host Bart Skils and the rest of the Static posse.
But not everything is subject to change. You can still find TWSTd at the good old spot as well as the ROCKIT stage (with a slight change though) and of course Sound Of Love hosts the House area in the same tent at the same spot where it’s always funky, soulful and energetic.
New this year: Due to great success at Free Your Mind Festival: We Are Circus hosted by Giel Beelen, Tom & Jochem. Also, at the “Kidult Camp”, this year's first appearance: The “Voor Wat Hoort Wat” stand (There is no such thing as a free lunch) where you can earn the strangest gadgets. As if you’re in a real big playground we planned a mixed bag of ridiculous activities at “Kidult Camp”, ecstatic games and other absurdity. The most silly figures will camp out to make this a great day together with you.
