Berlin pres: Kittball Records w/ Juliet Sikora

  • We are back on 29 September with our next German Record Label Party. This month we feature the infamous and internationally renowned Label 'Kittball Records'. We will be featuring 2 superheroes from this label i.e. co-owner Juliet Sikora and the fabulous Timo Garcia. Add into the mix your host DJ Markus Saarländer and support from the awesome Pure Klass DJs then we are all in for an amazing night! Kittball Records A huge label that needs no introductions. Kittball have been wowing dance floors for quite some time with huge releases across the board. Internationally known for productions and DJ-sets from Tube & Berger, Juliet Sikora and P.A.C.O., this label is a platform for these guys to release tracks of their own as well as their fellow artists. Alongside their own productions, the Kittball crew has been releasing House and Tech House tracks since 2005 by artists such as Timo Maas, Format:B, Ida Engberg, Ante Perry, Daniel Steinberg, Veerus & Maxie Devine, Lexer, Tapesh, Jay Lumen, Teenage Mutants, George Morel, Timo Garcia, Wild Culture, P.A.C.O., in.deed, Paji and Turntablerocker. A typical Kittball release can be recognised by the fresh sound, deep bass and a tiny pinch of irony. Juliet Sikora (Kittball, Suara) Known to many for her energy driven productions on the likes of Suara, Material and her own Kittball imprint, Juliet’s work and effort within the studio certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed by those within the world of house. Following her first release on Opaque Music alongside German duo Tube & Berger, a longstanding relationship both in and out of the studio with the pair led to a string of notable releases including their Beatport topping 2013 collaboration ‘Come On Now (Set It Off)’, which was later picked up by Pete Tong’s FFRR imprint, coupled with a highly successful and ever-expanding record label. Juliet is also responsible for the running of Kittball, a label she co-owns alongside Tube & Berger & P.A.C.O. The imprint currently sits within the Top 10 selling Deep House labels of all time on Beatport. The label’s catalogue has gone on to welcome the likes of Purple Disco Machine, Andhim, DeMarzo, Timo Garcia and Joeski to name just a few, and looks set to continue flourishing under the guidance of Sikora and her fellow Kittball family members. She also heads up ‘It began in Africa’, a charity founded in 2006 alongside Tube & Berger, and a project she continues to support and champion to this day. As a DJ, Juliet frequently finds herself behind the decks and sharing the booth with industry heavyweights at some of the worlds biggest clubs and festivals, including Watergate (Berlin), Rex Club (Paris) and Cocoon Club (Frankfurt), whilst annual Kittball showcases during Sonar’s Off Week (Barcelona) and across numerous European capitals now make up regular fixtures in the diary. Timo Garcia (Kittball Records, Elrow Music, OFF Recordings, Exploited Rec, Yoshitoshi Recordings, Skint Records, Compost Records, Cr2 Records, Toolroom Records) Timo Garcia is a name that needs little introduction. Now a firm Berlin-Brighton resident, Timo's sound straddles the fine line between underground darling and big room, big tune dance floor arsonist, his numerous releases on the circuit’s biggest and best labels has been well documented including releases on ElRow Music, Exploited, Noir, OFF, Compost, Lost Records, Skint, Southern Fried, Stealth, Yoshitoshi, Nervous, Leena, Cr2 & Toolroom & even Hed Kandi. His consistency in the studio first culminated in ‘Wonderlust Bug’; his acclaimed debut artist album with some of the world’s biggest names queuing up to recommend it… [SASHA] “The Hang Drum track is amazing – as is Release, Wonderlust and Lady Luck and the mixed album flows wonderfully too, keep it up mate”. [LAURENT GARNIER] “Great work… Great for big room business.” [TIMO MAAS] “Great album…v trippy and great variety!”. [M.A.N.D.Y.] “Solid collection of tracks. Well done!” But talk is cheap, action stands out, and Timo comes up trumps again! His release on Yoshitoshi graced the Beatport top 10 Tech charts for well over five months with many world class DJs citing it in their personal top 10’s. His deft touch can be heard on remixes of such luminaries as Leftfield, Coldcut, Justice, DJ Pierre, Louis Vega, Robert Owens, Danny Howells and Ian Brown and he is constantly on the lookout for ways to add his inimitable sound to wide-ranging projects including a 33 track ambient album under his downtempo ‘T_Mo’ guise. Hotel Es Vivé Ibiza released two compilation CDs produced by T_Mo highlighting his chillout music production prowess and sensational track selection. Whether you like your music to be played in the comfort of your own home, in grimy underground sweatholes, or in extravagant and celebrious locales, the sublime and sensual sounds of Timo Garcia are guaranteed to deliver. Perhaps it's not for you if you like: Commercial music, commercial house, pop, VIP, that dangly piece of rope separating you from everyone else in VIP, attitude, bad vibes, egos, geordie shore, d'n'b, garage, reggae, beyonce, r'n'b, Kanye West, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Swedish House Mafia, the Tories, death metal, 6 hours of flatline cowbell Techno, you get the picture :D Why does Berlin now charge entry? We want to bring you some of the biggest and best artists out of Germany and continue to share with you ground breaking underground music. To do that we need to finance the night and we can no longer fund it for free especially if we're bringing over artists from Berlin. We are still the cheapest club night in Brighton and we aim to keep to that and make underground music accessible to all.
