日本のゲーム音楽の歴史とその魅力を探ったドキュメンタリー作品『ディギン・イン・ザ・カーツ』が、Kode9主宰のレーベル”Hyperdub”からコンピレーションアルバムとして全世界でリリース。さらにロンドン、ロサンゼルス、東京でライブイベントを開催することが決定した。
そのワールドツアーではデトロイトテクノやシカゴハウスに影響を受けて制作された『ベア・ナックル』シリーズのサウンドの生みの親、古代祐三と川島基宏によるスペシャルユニットがライブセットを披露。
そして東京公演では『MOTHER1』『MOTHER2』『メトロイド』『バルーンファイト』『スーパーマリオランド』などの音楽で知られるChip Tanaka、ゲームボーイ・トラックメイカーQuarta 330、人気カルトゲーム「LSD」を手がけたOsamu Sato、チップチューンの第一人者Hallyはゲームミュージック界を代表する仲間と共に登場。
この夜だけは、スペシャルゲストにテクノ界の大御所Ken Ishiiは90年代テクノセットを披露。日本のハウス＆テクノ界を代表するGONNOはチップチューンを織り交ぜたスペシャルセットを披露する。
また”Hyperdub”主宰のKode9も来日決定。STUDIO4℃の創設メンバーであり、『ディギン・イン・ザ・カーツ』コンピレーションアルバムのアートワークを手掛けた森本晃司の作品とコラボレーションしたオーディオ・ヴィジュアルセットで登場。
日本のゲームミュージックの歴史を紐解くコンピレーションアルバム『DIGGIN IN THE CARTS』は”Hyperdub / Beat Records”から全世界リリース決定。

Following on from the acclaimed documentary series and Red Bull Radio show of the same name, Diggin’ In The Carts showcases Japan’s leading composers of video game music in the late ’80s and early ’90s alongside a new generation of artists who have been influenced by them. Hyperdub boss Kode9 will present a new performance inspired by Japanese video game music and set to visuals created by Kōji Morimoto, the legendary Japanese animator whose work on films like Magnetic Rose and Dimension Bomb have earned him a cult following around the world. Yuzo Koshiro, who some have called the greatest game music composer of the 16-bit age, will perform together with Motohiro Kawashima, a renowned composer who was Koshiro’s collaborator on Streets of Rage 2 and 3 and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Both sets will feature VJing by Planet Mu’s Konx-Om-Pax that puts a contemporary spin on the original animations.
Connecting different generations of video game music, additional performances come from Gameboy soundtrack legend Chip Tanaka, techno veteran Ken Ishii, chiptune pioneer Hally and Hyperdub’s Quarta 330. Rounding out the lineup is Tokyo-based DJ, music historian and filmmaker Nick Dwyer, who produces and hosts the Diggin’ In The Carts series and will bring his metagame with a DITC音 set, playing favorites from the genre’s rich history.
