Over the years, Ingo Martens has been influenced by a wide range of music genres. As a youth, Ingo first became interested in hip-hop and break dance. By the mid-1980s, Ingo began collecting electronica and synth pop albums from the groups such as Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and Nitzer Ebb. A few years later, it was acid house and hardcore groups. In the early 1990s, a friend by the name of Carl Cox gave Ingo a cassette tape of various remixes. The music had a substantial impact of Ingo’s view on music, paving the way for his future career. FELIX CARTAL (Dim Mak) http://www.myspace.com/felixcartal Felix Cartal was born with a passion for hard hitting electronic music. With influences ranging from the heavy hitting distortion of The Bloody Beetroots and Boys Noize, to the techno influences of Vitalic, Felix has created an amalgamation of electronic genres which results in a unique listening experience for home and live audiences alike. His distinctive method of incorporating abrasive distortion, intense instrumental build-ups and unique frequency variations in his songs gives Felix a sense of versatility within the electronic scene. This versatility has led Cartal to become one of the leaders of heavy-house – a genre known for its relentless intensity and bass and distortion heavy melodies. Cartal has created a zealous following through his emergence in the international blog scene, with hard hitting original tracks such as 'Moss vs. Trees' and 'Parisienne' as well as remixes of pop sensation Ashlee Simpson, MSTRKRFT, electronic rock act Dragonette, and Scottish producer-turned-DJ Alan Hostage. With many commissioned remixes (such as the upcoming 'Moving Units' single) waiting in the wings, Cartal continues to write and produce original and remix material with a professional touch which colleagues and fans regard with great admiration and respect. Consequently, his music has become a staple in the sets of artists such as Tommie Sunshine, Steve Aoki, and many others. As well, he has earned the backing of many prominent artists, including East York powerhouse duo MSTRKRFT. Cartal represents the new breed of industry players. Owing his success almost entirely to word-of-mouth and blog-endorsements, he is representative of the grassroots music movement that has been created due to the Internet – in a school of artists which includes contemporaries such as LA Riots, Sinden, Lazaro Casanova and Yuksek. Completely distanced from the world of expensive promotional gimmicks and label-hype, Cartal has risen in notoriety solely due to his musical abilities and talent. This new breed of artist, distinguished by exceptional content rather than hype, has begun to show much greater staying power than traditionally promoted artists. Cartal maintains a rigorous international tour schedule and has brought his brand of techno-esque hard-house to thousands of dance-hungry club kids worldwide. Having already supported acts such as Vitalic, Felix da Housecat, Richie Hawtin, Justice, Busy P, and Steve Aoki, look for Felix Cartal to continue to spread his hard-hitting brand of electronica across the globe. Todd started out as a deep house producer and DJ on the bar scene, until became one of the resident DJs at New Zealand's Kase, Auckland's only superclub. His bar gigs helped him hone his deeper sound, but his residency at the Kase gave him a chance to play on the same stage as some of the world's biggest DJs. He's currently a resident at Sydney's Lost Baggage night, which has put on DJs such as Alex Smoke, Aril Brikha and Joris Voorn. Todd has had plenty of studio experience, both as a part of House of Downtown with Christiaan Ercolano, and also as an engineer for both Kim and The Presets. However, he's only been producing on his own over the past couple of years, with his first solo EP coming out on Darren Emerson's Underwater label back in 2006.
