Exhale by Amelie Lens with Ellen Allien, Stephan Hinz Live and The Reason Y

  • Growing a global reputation as a DJ and producer in the mid 1990’s, ELLEN ALLIEN founded her label BPitch Control in 1999, creating a hub of techno, house and diverse electronic music. With over 300 releases in its catalogue – 331 to be exact – it is safe to say that BPitch is here to stay. The latest album release is Ellen’s 7th studio album “Nost” (BPC330). A critically acclaimed eclectic album sprung from the dance floor, a personal journey through her past, modified and updated for the present. As a DJ, sourcing and collecting music for many years, Ellen Allien has enormous skill and resource. A techno lover from the start, it is her musical core, the running theme through her varied sets. Ellen comfortably blends and weaves a pattern of her own hypnotic Berlin techno, acid house, minimal jams and freak house slammers. Absorbing the space and the energy of the dancers, she creates something mysterious and captivating for the there and then. Extraterrestrial Allien Dance is taking place. Ellen Allien holds residencies in the clubs Circoloco at DC10, Ibiza, Nitsa at Apollo, Barcelona, and you frequently find her performing festivals such as Germany’s Melt or N.A.M.E. Festival in France, to mention a few. Furthermore, her new global event series We Are Not Alone, the BPitch Boogy-parties, BPC label showcases and her in-store record shop happenings Vinylism, keeps her not only busy, but focused, creative and inspired. www.facebook.com/EllenAllien After exploding onto the scene with ‘Doch’, arguably one of the best techno slammers of 2014, on Pan-Pot’s Second State imprint, Berlin-based STEPHAN HINZ’s career has been on a stratospheric rise. A talented live artist, Hinz is a master at the controls and an orchestral raconteur of the highest caliber. His live sets deliver explosive original material, leaving sweaty ravers in packed clubs wondering what the hell just happened. 2016 was even more successful, with debut EPs on seminal labels such as Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD and Carl Cox’s Intec (the latter following a collaborative release with Philipp Ruhmhardt back in 2015), along with more new music on Second State, notably the techno stomper ‘Venom’. These achievements join an impressive back catalogue from labels such as Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. Hinz will continue to break new ground as a unique and powerful musical storyteller with the release of his debut album this year. www.facebook.com/stephanhinzofficial Creativity, craziness and Techno infused by pure genius are some of the key components of THE REASON Y. In the last couple of years he developed his own style in music and how to engage with the audience in the club no matter what time he has to play. The experiences and knowledge from being Dj as well as being in the crowd helped him to spread and unfold his creativity in the studio. www.facebook.com/thereasonyberlin Truly one of the most exciting export products Belgium has to offer these days - AMELIE LENS is taking the scene by storm ever since releasing her solid debut EP on the Italian Lyase Recordings. The title track Exhale quickly began living it’s own life as a very recognisable and uptempo floor filler. Lens’ mesmerising whisper driven by buoyant percussion and a heart-throbbing bass is a gimmick that grows on you fast but delicately before it leaves you craving for more. A collective sign of approval came from Berlin based power duo Pan-Pot who reached out to Amelie and asked her to get involved with Second State, Tassilo and Thomas’ own imprint. The label is what you might call a real family endeavour. Although not bound by blood, their artists share a strong ‘next of kin’-like love and appreciation for each others work. A happy home to grow up in and a promising platform for Lens to release her music on for many years to come. As a DJ, Amelie has had a lot of exposure this year which earned her the amazing opportunity to curate her own nights at Labyrinth club in Hasselt. She shares the line-up with big industry names while giving local talent a platform to get discovered. The name 'Exhale' - taken from her Lyase EP earlier this year - acts as a brand name for quality club nights that will produce and capture the beauty of form and harmony found in techno music. www.facebook.com/amelielensmusic
