  • After an unforgettable first edition, we’re pleased to announce that KALLIDA will be returning to Baskerville Hall in June 2018. This time however, we’re giving our guests a whole extra day to explore the mansion, absorb the art and installations we’ve picked out, and of course dance to some of our favourite musicians from across the spectrum. KALLIDA is an extremely intimate event, and tickets are limited to just 600 - but that doesn’t mean we skimp on the production. Every inch of the beautiful country house is decked out with heavyweight sound systems, sculpture, light shows and films, as well as a restaurant and pub to chill in. Spend your daytimes on the lawn enjoying music from our favourite acts from the worlds of afrobeat, hip hop, jazz and dub, before moving into the mansion at night to rave until the morning to some of the best DJs in underground music - and we think you’ll agree we’ve really upped our offering for our second year. Our first headliner to be announced in none other than Daniel Avery - without a doubt one of the most in demand DJs in techno today. From his early days as a fabric resident and his entry in their iconic mix series, to a critically acclaimed debut album, near constant global tours and an incredible DJ Kicks mix, and a brand new album due in April, we’re honoured to have him at Baskerville. Also gracing us will be the truly legendary Channel One. Their iconic sound system has been at Notting Hill Carnival for over 30 years, they’re known world over, they’ve won the Red Bull Culture Clash, and they have a near endless bag of rare dub and reggae - the absolute perfect candidates for an extended set in the Sunday afternoon sun. Next up: dnb legend Rockwell. No one no one moves through all the sub genres of the sound quite as effortlessly as him, and he doesn’t stop there either, with Detroit techno, booty bass and footwork all informing parts of his unique sound. It’s going to be a wild one. On top of that, we’ll be joined by NTS stalwart and all round legend Moxie. Moxie lives and breaths dance music, she runs the night and label On Loop, putting out fantastic records including the must listen, genre spanning Moxie Presents compilations and throwing first rate parties across the UK and Europe. Most festivals have a visual side, but at KALLIDA we believe this is a vital part of your experience, and one that shouldn’t be listed as a secondary thought. That’s why we place equal billing on those behind the sights of the event as well the sound. This year, we’ve crystallised the concepts behind our indoor spaces and have further expanded this to across the grounds, with a particular emphasis on digital art. After displaying her work at our London launch event, we’re proud to announce that the internationally renowned Aphra Shemza will produce a brand new work for the festival, alongside esteemed VJ Mowgli. Another installation will be provided by returning artist La Schmoove, who will be creating a site specific work outside the house. We’ll have a light installation from the amazing Dan Williams, and a video dome from Biztar. We’re also joined by Louis Shambles and Rosy Vivi, a new artistic duo who will be creating an installation outside in the forest. We’re not just filing the place with installations - we’ll be altering the look of the building itself. The windows of the mansion will be projection mapped by optical illusionist and glitch enthusiast Zaron Mizmeras. Sheffield based artist Peter Griffiths will be taking on the walls with abstract geometric patterns, and we’ll also have mixed media projections across the site by Tom Flynn. We’ve got a number of filmmakers and video artists involved this year. Our cinema space is again managed by Forest Vision Films, but we are thrilled to announce a partnership with Sheffield Doc Fest who will take over a portion of the programming for us, putting together a unique selection of international documentaries, as well as a series of shorts from the Kirby Brothers, exploring how those at the liminal edges of masculinity position themselves within their society. Bob Bicknell-Knight, curator of the popular online platform isthisit?, will also be putting together a selection of contemporary artworks to be displayed on screens throughout the venue. The main club spaces will be managed by Eyesymetric Productions and Visua UK, both of which are integral parts of the KALLIDA team. On top of this, Eyesymetric have designed an audiovisual installation that will take over one of the largest areas inside the hotel. We’ll be opening up a third room for music during the nights. That’s being designed by the incredible Morestatelab, whose nightly performance last year totally blew us away. Anyone present in 2017 will know just how excited we are for this. That’s far from it. We’ve also got club chameleon Teki Latex, soca obsessives Jus Now, the wacky psychedelic rock of Henge, Night Slugs founder L-Vis 1990, live afrobeat from Kokoroko and Kontiki, PC Music’s secret weapon Spinee, a showcase from bass rave specialists Off Me Nut Records featuring Phatworld, Superior Cornrows, City Guys, and Dankle, the soulful rap and r’n’b of Children of Zeus, carnival specialists Hipsters Dont Dance, a very special showcase from BBZ, homegrown UK hip hop from Trellion, Morriachi and Lord Apex, BBC AZN Network’s Manara, soulful r’n’b from Nilüfer Yanya and Jazzi Bobbi, and plenty more to boot.
