The perennial “Prince of Techno” has been crowned king at last. And, judging by his Fabriclive66 set, his Drone Logic album, his DJ-Kicks mix and his Divided Love residency, it’s fair to say that Daniel Avery is sitting comfortably on the throne.
With his heart in London (where he frequently plays sets at Fabric), his eyes on the prize, his ears always open for the latest sound to escape from the rigid clutches of club techno, and his ngers forever taking his mixer to unexpected places, Daniel Avery’s whole body is devoted to producing the perfect mix.
A familiar face at Nuits Sonores – his closing party in 2016 and his set for Jon Hopkins at La Sucrière in 2017 will both linger long in the memory – he is returning to Lyon in 2018 armed with a surprise up his sleeve. As always.
