If This Knowledge Scares You, The Equation Is Working (a direct quote from one of the artist-prophet’s self-penned manifestos) is not a tribute show in any traditional or literal sense. Rather it is a celebration of RAMMΣLLZΣΣ’s singular creative heresy and commitment to the liberation of language and expression, manifested in a New York City–heavy lineup of kindred voices. Featured performers include Show Me the Body, blistering hometown punk champions of the people; 700 Bliss, AKA Philadelphia noise duo Moor Mother and DJ Haram; Wiki, the Manhattan-raised young rap bard and chronicler of city experiences, in collaboration with legendary Kid Creole and the Coconuts co-conspirator Coati Mundi; and Standing On the Corner, genre-defying defenders of all that is sonically shitty and beautiful. Also performing: Hip-hop production brethren Sporting Life and Tony Seltzer; MIKE, the revered, rising MC; smoldering vocal powerhouse Mal Devisa; humble, magnificent, renaissance human Edan on disk jokk and echo duties; and additional friends, guests, legends, collaborations, surprises and phantoms.
