『未知数のサウンド！ ジャーマンテクノの重要人物が登場』
人気を確立したテクノの一大拠点Berghainに所属するFiedelことMichael Fiedlerだが、彼はそのキャリアを通じて安易に迎合しない予測不可能なサウンドをリリースしてきた。ErrorsmithとのプロジェクトMMMでは、エレクトロとノイズを解体し、「Donna」や「Elektro Cut」といった強力なキラーチューンを制作。Fiedel名義でのソロ活動においても、同名のセルフレーベルを中心に独特の角ばったグルーヴによる実験的な意欲作で、既成概念にとらわれない自由な創造力を遺憾なく発揮している。そうした制作面での挑戦的な姿勢は彼のDJスタイルにも表れており、イギリスのハードコアサウンドからの影響をアメリカやドイツの4つ打ちスタイルに混ぜ合わせ、お約束的なテクノを凌駕する濃厚な酩酊空間を創り上げる。
そんな彼のエネルギーを隅々まで通わせた新たなミックス作品「Berghain 08」を祝して、この日のStudio XフロアではFiedelと共にスペシャルなリリースパーティを開催する。主役となるFiedelをサポートするのは、2014年にレーベルAmeniiaを設立して台頭中の韓国人DJ／プロデューサーMarcus Lだ。アジアのクラブシーンで主要な役割を果たしているソウルのクラブFaustの一員である彼のプレイにも要注目だ。
Contactフロアには、ポルトガルのプロデューサーCleymooreことBruno Santosが登場。Pluie/Noireの主宰者として、広範なサウンドを取り入れながら、確立されたスタイルに代わる真のオルタナティブを提供し、ミニマルハウス／テクノのフォーマットを刺激的な新領域へと押し進めている注目株だ。CleymooreのDJセットも同様、心地よいトラックに実験的なリズムやテクスチャーを優雅に織り交ぜながら、新たなミニマルダンスミュージックの在り方を提案し続けている。Foyerフロアでは、2016年より活動しているHiroki Nakamuraとboys be kkoによるハウス・パーティ”Kids Return”が1st EPリリースを記念してリリースパーティを開催。全フロアともに普段とは違う未知なるサウンド体験を約束する！

Michael Fiedler may belong to the techno establishment of Berghain, but his musical career has been a catalogue of unpredictable statements against conformity. As one half of MMM (alongside Errorsmith) he helped deconstruct electro and noise, making such potent dancefloor bombs as “Donna” and “Elektro Cut.” As a solo artist he has shown an equally fearless approach under the name Fiedel, largely releasing on his own self-titled imprints to ensure full creative freedom in exploring angular, unflinching techno. He brings this same sense of adventure to his craft as a DJ, often reaching beyond the established norms of techno to create intoxicating hybrids that draw on UK hardcore-derived sounds as much as US and German 4/4.
That energy comes through on his Berghain 08 mix album, which is being celebrated with this special release party in the Studio X floor. Fiedel will be supported by South Korea’s Marcus L. As well as establishing the Ameniia label in 2014, the talented DJ and emergent producer is responsible for one of the most vital components of the Asian club landscape, the Faust nightclub in Seoul.
In the Contact floor, Portugese producer Bruno Santos will be appearing in his Cleymoore guise. As the label head of Pluie/Noire, Santos has pushed the formula of minimal house and techno into intriguing new territory, embracing a wider palette of sounds to create a genuinely original alternative to the established sound. Santos’ DJ sets follow suit, moving gracefully between feel good tracks and challenging rhythms and textures.
