Rainbow Disco Club Shanghai Feat. Hunee & San Proper

  • Rainbow Disco Club - the hidden festival gem of Japan - is back at Elevator for a night beyond space and time. If you were at the previous editions featuring Move D, San Proper or Tim Sweeney, you have an idea of the trip you're in for. If not - hang on to your laces, and open up to a vibe unmatched. For RDC's spring jam we're beyond ourselves to host two leading lights of Amsterdam's Rush Hour collective: Hunee and San Proper. Every DJ wants to think themselves a musical connoisseur, but Hunee really is. He won't say it, but pretty much everyone else does whenever the man pops up in conversation. As likely to draw for a classic house record as he is a disco curveball, a boogie delight or mixing an African bomb into a techno record, each selection he makes is a thing of true passion – you can see it not only in his eyes, but so too in the eyes of those dancing along. Reporting that he feels blessed every time he gets to play music for people, Hunee’s sole goal is to enrich the lives of listeners as much as possible. His own productions have always managed to do that, each with a certain kinked funk, true sense of soul or loveable house heritage that puts them up there with the best. Along the way Hunee takes inspiration from people who “live it to the max, to the bone” and considers himself to be just partway along a never-ending journey. “I just try to do my own thing,” he says humbly, and no-one can argue with that. Together with Hunee, we're delighted to have back a DJ who lives life "to the max" - Doctor Professor San Proper (Rush Hour, Dekmantel, Trouw). A famously unpredictable selector who lays down party starting sets of house and disco, electro, afro and acid, a charismatic performer who places his own vocals and human energy at the center of the show. The Doctor is also an esteemed producer of feral house and techno sounds on quality labels like Rush Hour and Perlon. San Proper has played on every major continent and when he does, he never fails to lay down real, raw musical experiences that never fail to be full of surprises. He melted our hearts and minds at Elevator's first Rainbow Disco Club party, and we can't wait to hear him going up again. Supporting these two heavyweights are RDC Shanghai residents Carlos and Mau Mau. One of the Tokyo festival's original founders, Carlos migrated to Shanghai years back where he has since overseen RDC's China expansion. His Tokyo sets at parties like Redbox are legendary and we're psyched to have him back in the booth. Mau Mau - Elevator's music director, Medusa and Co:Motion resident - enjoys pancakes, ping pong, and searching for timeless music that makes people do terrible things on the dancefloor – disco, house and techno with grit and funk.
