  • ♪♫ TRIP WIRE w/ Thomas Skjærstad at The Lighthouse, 21st July in Ho Chi Minh City! Thomas Skjærstad, artist, producer and DJ, has been found to modulate between the large crowds of places like Berlin’s Sisyphos, Belgrade’s Drugstore - to the intimate spaces of his residency at Elefant in Oslo. A card-carrying member of Det Gode Selskab collective and a regular guest at venues like The Villa and Jæger Oslo. Born and raised into the Norwegian tradition of marching bands and hi-fidelity sound systems, Thomas Skjærstad’s musical education is built on an assemblage of formal training and informal listening. With releases tipped for Luciano’s Cadenza label, Sommerøya Records, and rumors currently spreading of future releases, this is no doubt one guy you don’t won’t to miss playing behind the decks! ♫ HOUSE – TECHNO ♫ FREE before 10PM / 100K after - Tickets at the door THE LINE UP: 9pm - 1am: Saint Vincent (FR) 1am - 3.30am: Thomas Skjærstad (NO) - Burn Energy, Sommerøya Records, Oyhopper Records 3.30am - 5am: Nina Nova (AU) - The Lighthouse ____________________________ Original Photo Credit: MTxiii Photography ____________________________ ✪ Thomas Skjærstad (Burn Energy, Sommerøya Records, Øyhopper Records) ✪ BIO: Born and raised into the Norwegian tradition of marching bands and hi-fidelity sound-systems, Thomas Skjærstad’s musical education is built on an assemblage of formal training and informal listening. A brass enthusiast from an early age, he exchanged the slide trombone for a mixer when the glacial sounds of Röyksopp and Jean Michel Jarre, lured him over to the dark side, with the impulsive sounds of Techno and Minimal his ultimate purview. In the booth, sound design has become central to his focus, and Thomas avoids big room gestures for the more intense, primal urges of dark corners and salacious bodies. In 2017 he conquered Scandinavia with this approach when he was crowned the Norwegian representative of the BURN Residency with a trip to Ibiza sealing his destiny at an international level. He’s refined his methods on a world stage, opening and closing for artists such as Âme, Stefano Noferini, Mars Bill, Aaryon, Tijana T, Sunju Hargun, and Tagtraumer and has been found to modulate between the large crowds of places like Berlin - Sisyphos, Belgrade – Drugstore, to the intimate spaces of his residency at Elefant in Oslo. A card carrying member of Det Gode Selskab collective and a regular guest at venues like The Villa and Jæger Oslo, Thomas Skjærstad is a restless figure and in 2017 he’s taken on the mammoth task of the festival. Hjertøya is the first of its kind in Molde, focusing on home-grown talent in the underground electronic hemisphere. With a particular focus on the young community currently growing in Norway, Thomas has become a driving force of motivation across the scene and 2018 he’ll be taking that drive from the booth to the studio. With releases tipped for Luciano’s Cadenza label, Sommerøya Records, and rumours currently spreading of future releases, Thomas Skjærstad is primed for a career as an artist, producer and DJ in 2018. Harnessing the DJ’s penchant for the dramatic and the tenebrous corners of electronic dance music, Thomas Skjærstad will undoubtedly set a progressive tone for the recorded electronic music of the not-so-distant future ambassador. In 2002, he made a very long distance move to Thailand followed by lots of gigs in clubs, bars, hotels, after-hour spots and a 10 year long residency at the renowned “Bedsupperclub” nightclub in Bangkok. Described by some as being “a key player in shaping up the Bangkok underground scene”, he moved to Phnom Penh in Cambodia in 2014 with the same desire to share his love for music and DJing. Saint Vincent has shared the decks and opened for Claude Vonstroke, Darren Emerson, Ellen Allien, Evil9, Felix da Housecat, Laurent Garnier, Secret Cinema Pig & Dan, Sebastien Leger, Tiefshwarz and more. He is a dedicated crate-digger and an explorer by nature. Lighting up dance-floors and grooving out bars, Saint Vincent’s DJ'ing style goes way beyond cliches. A unique touch characterized by finesse and sophistication, combined with panache and originality. Put simply - House, Techno and Electronica - for the body and the soul. With a particular enjoyment for building long sets from a blank page, for Saint Vincent each set is an unpredictable musical journey and taking people by surprise, but with subtlety. Nina has continued to reinvent herself, currently playing a spectrum of house and techno melodies - always aspiring to make her audience lost in the moment. As mentioned in an interview by Saigoneer (a leading Vietnamese social publication) she approaches her sets like a curator, displaying and retracting different tracks like exhibits. At times they allow for playfulness, at times they are emotional, serious or designed to shock and awe. At other times they just make you want to party. But trademark Nina Nova exists in the interplay of tracks weaving together in service of a greater whole. Her audiences often follow up with her in person or online, one writes: “Your music leaves me speechless. It makes me think of everything and nothing at the same time. When you play, you tell a story. And the story is beautiful." Nina has played in Ho Chi Minh City’s key venues such as The Lighthouse, Piu Piu, Broma, Saigon Soul Pool Parties, Arcan, Vitamin D, and many more - also holding a monthly residency at The Lighthouse, which has seen the likes of Stefan Goldman, Exos, Sunju Hargun, Steve Bicknell, Marcus Henriksson, Andre Hommen, who she closed for, just to name a handful. Her music has also been heard across the beautiful Phu Quoc Island and Mui Ne coast, including Vibe Nation Beach Festival. Seeking to further her journey internationally – Nina took pride in bringing her sounds to new audiences in Myanmar end of 2016, three Japan tours in 2017, along with DJ Land Japan. 2018 has brought her back to Japan, as well as playing in Phnom Penh and Otres Beach in Cambodia, which included the season closing party of Kerfuffle - South East Asia’s biggest underground jungle festival.
