London-based Torontonian Peach is one of the most exciting artists breaking through right now and her latest Boiler Room set explained just why she's on fire. The NTS resident’s dynamic mixing style and layered sets teem with energy and illustrate a meticulous prowess for selecting tracks that always seem to hit the spot. IDM, breakbeat, house, techno and more are her ingredients that takes you through atmospheric worlds. Her debut track “Silky”, with a dark and mysterious setting but softened with multiple layers, got released by Midland’s “Intergrated”. And with her latest Boiler Room set it’s obvious that Peach has skills and can’t stand still easily.
With 20 years record collecting and DJing, ASOK is by no means some new fly by night whizz with little or no substance behind him. Instead he is someone who has amassed a fine understanding of a wide array of scenes, styles and sounds from d&b to electro funk, disco to house and techno. As a result, the music the man releases is an amalgamation of all that and more. It has found favour with esteemed labels like Mistress, Creme Organisation, M>O>S, Mule Musiq, Mork and Lobster Theremin. With his most recent releases from 2017, he gets your attention with beautiful sounds and breaky and unexpected ritmes. With his “Inner Circle” track from the “Inner Circle” EP, he easily creates a mysterious mood with his timed moments of calmth. And “Terran Envoy’ a playful track with a delightful groove, that deserves a mention. Although ASOK can play with moments of calmth like no other he’ll get you right back going with some serious “oomph” like in “Track Four” from his “Virtual Light” EP.
Support on this first edition of Hidden Maze comes from Martin Hooke, With his style of smooth tunes mixed with a touch of weirdness, he did a crazy remix for Ryan Davis’ and Applescal’s “Creatures” released by “Klangwelt Records”.
