Critical Sound London

  • Saturday 8th December 2018 Open/close 23:00-06:00, Last entry 03:00am (over 18s only) E1, 110 Pennington Street, E1W 2BB Critical Music are heading back to the underground after a packed summer that has seen them dominate stages at Let It Roll, Hospitality on the Beach and Boomtown Fair with their masterfully mixed, full impact Drum & Bass flavour. Rich in half-time steppers, minimal techy rollers and heavy-hitting neuro from producers the world over, the versatility in their underground sound reflects the Undivide mantra, slotting perfectly for a headline show featuring cutting-edge minimal drum & bass in E1’s Black Studio Room 2. Renowned for bringing a diverse lineup to the Critical Music stage, accompanying a hard-hitting b2b between label boss Kasra and longstanding label favourite Enei is very special guest and pioneer of underground D+B culture, Hazard. Halogenix refreshes the memories of his killer set at the Critical Sound takeover at Boomtown’s Sector 6; whilst, Sam Binga and Foreign Concept join forces with Fox to celebrate their upcoming collab EP coming this September. Undisputed roller king Serum, the master vs student combination of T>I b2b Benny L, whose set at Boomtown will forever go down in festival folklore and the young blood of Critical, Klax, Hyroglifics & Shyun come together for an almighty b2b2b. On hosting duties Mantmast, Carasel & Jakes apply their masterful lyrical flows. The Black Studio sees 1985 Music and their carefully-curated selection of DJs represent a sound that has developed into one of UK Drum & Bass’ most recognisable. The largely influential main man Alix Perez takes to the crease for a three-hour minimal masterclass, alongside a squad plucked from the deep: half-time Mancunian stepper Chimpo, hypnotic anglo-franc Monty, & cross-spectrum 20/20 LDN instrumentalist Tim Parker are hosted by lord of the mic SP:MC. Undivide round off our debut run of shows this autumn by celebrating four years since Critical’s last event at E1 on Saturday 8th December. The label’s day party in May at Studio 338 took the scene by storm but as the nights get longer it’s time to head back underground with a well-constructed cross-spectrum showcase in Drum & Bass culture, taking place at London’s newest warehouse space.
