It’s hard to find of a style of music that Gusgus hasn’t traversed. Over the space of twenty years, the Icelandic band have amassed a huge following, from humble beginnings as a film and acting collective, right the way through to releasing ten studio albums.
Labelling them as an electronic music band seems unfair considering the unrelenting repertoire of talent they’ve produced over the years but, perhaps most strikingly, was the release of Polydistortion back in 1997. This was arguably the release that put their footprint firmly in the Icelandic snow, leading to worldwide recognition and the advent of sold out shows across the globe.
Fast-forward a decade or two and their presence and ability are far from wavering. The latest release, Featherlight, is a record that speaks volumes about the band’s origin as well as their present sound. Taken from their forthcoming album, “Lies are more flexible”, it’s an irrevocable sign of positive things to come.
And how to celebrate such a feat? Well, save the date, because on Thursday the 28th of February, GusGus will be playing an exclusive live performance at one of the Capital’s newest and exciting warehouse spaces: E1 London. With a bespoke Funktion One Soundsystem, that features a professionally tuned “Wall of Sound”, there is no better venue to celebrate GusGus' iconic sound.
