WE ARE BACK ✊
The turn of the year is a bit like a blank canvas, a chance to reflect on the year afore and outline the year ahead. The time to look back and decide on things you want to change, and maybe the things you don’t. Looking back after a somewhat mixed 2018 we were left with a decision to make, should we keep going? During the quiet winter months we hibernated, said no to halloween and xmas events to take stock and work out what was going on.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the midst of our head banging, we realised as much as we loved bringing bookings to town, we felt that we had become rather disillusioned with “the process” of promoting. From evil agents to extortionate fees we felt that we were becoming servants to bigger artists. The costs of a night from hire fees to agency fees became too difficult and our passion began to dwindle. So we bashed our weegie heeds together and out came a commanding desire to bring it back - all it needed was a change of path.
OUR SOUND
As a city our local DJs and artists are sometimes overlooked but they are equally as important to our thriving scene as they are attracting the big names. They are the fuel that without them we would have an even wider disconnect between artists and clubbers. We have been honing ours for 6 years in McEwan, Torrance, RJay Murphy - three guys who have supported some of the world’s finest selectors. Forget the bookings, this year is all about them. We look forward to exploring the different corners of music, a cross genre policy that will make you move.
OUR SPACE
We loved it when we were moving around town, from Drygate, SWG3, SubClub, random cafe’s - we missed the changing scenery and the unexpected demands and fun of a new space. For our first of the year we wanted to go somewhere that doesn’t come with any strings, a blank canvas ye might say. With so many great promoters and limited space in the city that really got us thinking.
For our first of 2019 The Admiral Bar. An an established Glasgow public house with a perfect intimate space in it’s basement, what more do you need. So good Melting Pot have commanded there for years. We immediately felt at home after visiting here and we are sure you will love it too.
OUR WEEKEND
Over the last 6 years we loved the times when old and new friends came together at our events, so let’s not stop there. In hindsight by moving to midweek nights we took the sting out what made our nights so good in the first place OUR REGULARS. Problem being with midweek most of us millennials are now holding down jobs or families. So there was only one option, moving back to a Saturday. No £12 tickets for sale, no dripsale releases, no presale either. This year’s not about selling tickets to pay for guests it’s about us having a great time dancing to great tunes.
So to our regulars and future regulars alike, dry January is over. Recharge those duracells and dig out your tambourine because we have a party waiting for you.
