遥か遠くの地を思い起こさせるエキゾチックなサウンドにシンセサイザーが溶け合い、ハンドメイドな感覚を残しながらも素晴らしいディスコ・ファンクの作品をリリースしてきたNu Guineaがついに超待望の初来日公演を4月13日に開催されるSTIRにて披露する！！
ナポリ出身で現在はベルリンを拠点に活動するNu Guineaのサウンドは彼方のエキゾチックな感覚に大きな影響を受けている。ジャムセッションから生まれたプロジェクトでもあり。シンセサイザーと楽器が溶け合いハンドメイドなサウンドを混ぜながら、完璧を求めず本物であることを目指している。今でも進化を続けており、アフロビートの始祖Tony Allenなど他のミュージシャンとも常にオープンにコラボレーションしてきた。
レアなディスコからワールド・ミュージックまでを漂い、ルーツとなっている音楽ジャンルに触れるような、距離感を感じさせるサウンドをNu Guineaは作り出す。リリースしてきた作品は日本国内のレコードショップでも即完売してしまうほどそのカルトな人気はすでに凄まじく、来日公演が待ち望まれてきた。ターンテーブルとキーボードを組み合わせて展開されるNu Guineaのインプロ・ライブスタイルのDJセットは、Boiler Roomでもその素晴らしさを確認できるが、現場で味わえばきっと異国への冒険旅行へ誘ってくれるだろう。

Carefully melded synths accompanied by exotic sounds incite visions of faraway locales – Nu Guinea have an organic, “handmade” feel about their superb disco-funk tracks that will keep your body moving. VENT is proud to present to you Nu Guinea’s highly-anticipated first performance in Japan, at STIR on April 13th!
Formed in Naples and based in Berlin, Nu Guinea’s sound have deep exotic influences. A project born out of a jam session, expert meshing of synths and instruments give their music an organic sheen – they do not seek perfection, but the real and raw sounds only humans can produce. Ever-evolving, they often openly collaborate with other artists, most notable of which is Tony Allen, the father of Afrobeat.
Floating along the planes of obscure disco and world-ethnic music, Nu Guinea conjure feeling of distant yet somehow attainable world. They have such a cult following that their records are known to fly off the shelves of Japanese record stores, so it only makes sense that their debut Japan gig come highly anticipated. Equipped with turntables and keys, Nu Guinea’s impromptu DJ sets are thing to marvel, just check out what they did at Boiler Room. Brace yourself for a night of exotic sounds, only at VENT!
