『Fumiya Tanakaによる熟練のDJ表現と陶酔のグルーヴ』
革新的で挑戦的なアプローチでハウスとテクノを表現するFumiya Tanakaの日本でのホームグラウンドパーティCHAOSに、Thomas Melchiorの帰還が決定！ 今回も、ムード/トーン/テクスチャーなど、感性を刺激する要素を多様に織り交ぜながら、そのすべてをまとめあげる揺るぎないグルーヴと一貫した世界を創り上げていく。
DJというアートフォームに向き合い、その解釈を主に世界各地のハウス/テクノシーンでかたちにしてきたFumiya Tanakaにとって、CHAOSは、その道程で出会った刺激的なDJやプロデューサーたちを迎え入れるプラットフォームとして機能している。今回Melchior Productions Ltdとしてライヴを披露するThomas Melchiorは、Fumiya Tanakaもアルバムをリリースしている〈Perlon〉を代表するアーティストのひとりだ。そのキャリアは、さらに昔〈Rephlex〉や〈Source Records〉、そして〈Playhouse〉といった名レーベルから作品をリリースしていたころにまでさかのぼる。一切の無駄をそぎ落とした繊細でいてしなやかなグルーヴで、ミニマルハウス時代の到来をいち早く予見していたThomas Melchiorは、Fumiya TanakaとのプロジェクトTofu Productionsでも披露しているように、近年の作品とDJの両面において、その表現力を拡張した特有のエレガンスと艶やかな魅力を携えている。共鳴し合うふたりの突出したアーティストが一夜を彩る今回のChaosも、陶酔に満ちた空間を約束する。

Don’t be fooled by the name – Fumiya Tanaka’s flagship club night on his home turf at Contact doesn’t sound like chaos. His inventive, adventurous take on minimal house and techno can embrace many different moods, tones and textures, but there is an assured consistent quality and an unrelenting groove holding everything together.
Tanaka is rightly celebrated the world over for his contributions to the house and techno scene. Chaos provides the perfect platform for him to welcome some of the renowned DJs and producers he works alongside elsewhere, and this time we’re treated to a return visit for the near-mythical Thomas Melchior.
Melchior is synonymous with Perlon Records, also a home to Tanaka’s productions, but his musical legacy reaches back to projects on Rephlex and Source Records, albums on Playhouse and much more besides. His sound is proudly stripped back and delicate, but imbued with an ineffable groove that sees him held in the highest regard by those craving refined minimal house. Melchior and Tanaka even work together on occasion as Tofu Productions – when kindred spirits such as these take control of the Studio X Floor all night long, the results are sure to be mesmerising.
