For the second showing in its ASSEMBLY event, The Kitchen presents live performances by King Britt presents Moksha Black and Richard Kennedy. Follow the show through The Kitchen’s legendary multi-floor Chelsea space as two exciting music and movement artists take the stage and challenge our relationships with space and collectivity.
ASSEMBLY is a new and limited series of live, multi-media performances hosted at The Kitchen. Over three weekends in June, The Kitchen’s spaces will be stripped of their defining uses as gallery, theatre, and office. Each of our emptied floors will host different live performances--activated sequentially--by musicians, dancers, performance artists, and DJs using custom sound and video systems. Some of ASSEMBLY’s artists have worked at The Kitchen for decades, while others will be making their Kitchen debuts. ASSEMBLY’s live performances promote thought about access and collectivity, recognizing how sound and a space’s structure may lend themselves to nuanced and rich cultural exchange.
