エレクトロニックミュージック界で多忙な日々を送っている男、Matt Edwards。Radio Slave名義での作品と、人気レーベル〈Rekids〉の運営で知られるプロデューサーとして、ひとつのテンポとスタイルにとらわれない作品を幅広くリリースし、そのいずれにおいても高い評価を獲得するという敏腕ぶりを発揮している。Quiet Villageによる重心低めのブロークンビーツや、Makonでのジャズの影響を落とし込んだサウンドスケープといったコラボレーションプロジェクトでも、Matt Edwardsの膨大なディスコグラフィに欠かせない名作を残してきた。そんな彼の最新プロジェクトが、グラフィックデザイナー/モデル/スポークンワード・パフォーマーとして活動するPatrick MasonとのSRVDだ。
扇動的なボーカルと延々と続くビルドアップ感覚によるビッグチューン「The Yard Man」がスマッシュヒットを記録し、数多のDJたちにプレイされているSRVDが、遂に初上陸を果たす！ さらにRadio Slaveの単独DJセットもしっかりラインナップ。Matt Edwards流の切れ味鋭いハウスとテクノが存分に炸裂する予定だ。この夜のStudio Xフロアも、予測不可能で忘れられない瞬間を約束する。
「The hotly anticipated debut of Radio Slave and Patrick Mason’s crucial new project」
Matt Edwards has been a very busy man in electronic music for a long time now. Best known as Radio Slave and label boss of the mighty Rekids, he’s been pushing all kinds of tempos and styles to critical acclaim. From the low slung broken beats of Quiet Village to the jazz infused soundscapes of Makon, his collaborative projects have been a vital addition to his prolific output over the years. His latest project sees Edwards team up with Patrick Mason – the broadly talented graphic designer, model and spoken word performer.
Together, Edwards and Mason present SRVD, which has already scored a major hit with “The Yard Man” – one of those ubiquitous club bombs with a hooky vocal presence that landed in the bags of scores of DJs. Now they’re taking SRVD on the road, and Contact is thrilled to host the Japanese debut of their collaborative live set. As well as that set, Edwards will don his Radio Slave guise for a sharp-shooting DJ set spanning the breadth of his distinctive take on house and techno traditions. It promises to be another unforgettable, unpredictable night on the Studio X floor.
