In celebration of a new EP by Crypticz and Itoa, Rudimentary Records brings you a cluster of talented providers of bass and breaks. From a world DMC champion to Belfast own dub selectors we have the spectrum of soundsystem culture covered.
Itoa:
“no frills club music from London”. A soundsystem fanatic, and purveyor of frenzied juke and hip-hop-inspired junglistic beats, the Londoner — otherwise known as Alex Godoy — has gained quite the underground rep over the past two years with offerings for Bad Taste Records, Roots & Future and Exit Records.
Crypticz:
Since launching his Crypticz moniker in 2013, Jordan Parsons has explored a range of bass genres from dubstep to drum & bass.
Mentored by Bristol’s Coleco, his technique has developed quickly, and whilst his sound has moved through multiple phases, a solid backbone of dub basslines connects each release, whether it be jittery juke for Inflect Audio or hazy dubbed-out drum & bass for Sweetbox, ThirtyOne Recordings and ‘Om Unit’s’ Cosmic Bridge.
Jon1st:
Since his breakout win in the 2013 DMC World Online Championships, Jon1st has quickly built a reputation as a ‘DJ’s DJ’, not only proving himself as one of the world’s most diverse turntablists but also as an in demand club DJ, selector and producer, constantly breaking new music and effortlessly blending together influences across the alternative bass music spectrum, in particular passionately exploring the conversation between genres in the 160-170bpm landscape.
Crilli:
Crilli is a drum and bass & electronic music club night which began as a quarterly event in 2005 at the Windsor Bar, Bangor, Co. Down, hosting a variety of local electronic DJs in addition to Crilli resident Bad Operator.
Over the years Crilli has made appearances in Bangor, Belfast and occasionally Portrush, featuring a range of international drum and bass artists as well as some of the best DJing/ production talent in Northern Ireland.
