Jon Hopkins has long been an artist we have admired at The Hydra, an artist who’s musical practice has seen him journey through ambient, glitch, abstract and experimental techno, pushing boundaries in the studio as well as his infamous live performances and DJ sets. It’s with great excitement therefore that we present Jon Hopkins Curates at Printworks London.
Joining the pioneering electronic producer is one of the titans of UK Techno, Daniel Avery. Known for his hazy, experimental dance tracks, Avery has a found tendency to refashion classic rave sounds incorporating acid synths, long-distance builds and techno rhythms spanning multiple genres, eras, tempos and emotions. All geared for the dance floor. Seefeel perform ‘Quique’ showcases a timeless and seminal album (over 25 years afer it's inital release!) which hangs between experimental rock and ambient techno while Kelly Lee Owens, one of the most highly-launded young producers coming out of Wales adds the last dimension to the Press Halls this October.
Icelandic multi-instrumentalists Kiasmos headline the Dark Room, a pair producers who build sets on a robust variety of drum machines, synthesisers and tape delays appropriately suited for Printworks' most intimate space. Lone, an essential artist in the modern R&S Records family, Ninja Tune’s Nathan Fake and Canadian Khotin add a touch of the unexpected with their blurred yet effervescent hybrid take on house music while LNS completes the bill with her unique take on the pioneering sounds of Detroit and UK techno.
