TIM HECKER
Tim Hecker’s latest releases saw him make several trips to Japan to work with gagaku musicians from Tokyo Gakuso (the traditional ensemble of the Imperial Court), resulting in 2018’s Konoyo and the recent partner release, Anoyo. Both albums continue to find the Canadian electronic composer challenge the boundaries between noise, dissonance, and melody. As the New York Times put it, he plays “foreboding, abstract pieces in which static and sub-bass rumbles open up around slow-moving notes and chords, like fissures in the earth waiting to swallow them whole.” Tim Hecker is an extensive, vigorous live performer, and the immense power and menace of his live shows makes him a contemporary master of volume and texture.

Sugai Ken The music of SUGAI KEN will invites you into the world of "neo-japonica", an initiative created between traditions and contemporary sound technologies, Japanese folk music, urban native field recordings and sound art. His space is long established as one he occupies alone, unique in both its playfulness, roots in serious, reflective and deep spirituality through Ken's connection to his environment, the climate of the Kanagawa Prefecture where Ken lives and works. He released several works in 2019, but there is no end to production requests from around the world. His second for RVNG Intl is planned for 2020 and he is planning a project with a long-established Japanese tea company in 2020.
