We're delighted to announce that our special guest for the Freche Früchte Christmas Party will be Matt Thornton (Koala/Electronic Petz/Benthic).
Matt is a 25 year old DJ/producer from the north east of England who has played alongside some of the industries biggest players including: Jamie Jones (Cocoon), Clive Henry (Circo Loco), Mistress De Funk (Circo Loco), Ralph Lawson (20:20 Vision), Tim Sheridan (Veryverywrongindeed), Kate Lawler (Toolroom) & the Audio Bully's to name just a few.
His own productions are also getting great support from the likes of Slok (Get Physical), No_One (Resopal Schallware), Rob Small (Breakout Audio) & The Timewriter (Plastic City) who has described his remix of Rob Small's Tincan Scat, on Benthic Records, as "Fantastic".
As well as his remix of Rob Small's Tincan Scat, Matt’s debut EP, Thinking Of You, was released in September 2009, on Electronic Petz Records. With many more productions from Matt in the pipe line it's looking like a very promising future for this up and coming artist!
On top of this Matt promotes & DJ's at his own monthly night in his home city of Hull called "Koala" with 2 friends - Waff (Sona Sound/Resopal Schallware) and Phil Wilson (Little Phil), and mainly concentrates on showcasing local and upcoming talent. The night is going from strength to strength and has recently made its home at the Welly Club, Hull's premier music venue.
Matt's main influences in his production work and DJ'ing style come from the likes of Luciano, Reboot, Julien Chaptel, Jamie Jones, Clive Henry, Ricardo Villalobos, Ernesto Ferreyra, Loco Dice, Ray Okpara, Steve Bug, Markus Fix, Kreon & Johnny D to name only a few. Whilst record labels that catch his eye include Moon Harbour, Cadenza, Freak n' Chic, 20:20 Vision, Lomidhigh Organic, 8Bit, Cecille, Tsuba, 100% Pure, Safari Electronique, Oslo & Einmaleins.
