『デトロイト産直！ 重くとどろく未来のソウルミュージック』
現代にアップデートした真のソウルミュージックを追い求め、多彩な音楽活動を展開してきたデトロイトの至宝、Waajeedが来日決定！ デトロイト屈指のヒップホップクルーSlum Villageとして活躍し、Dweleのファーストアルバム「Rize」をプロデュースするなど、数々の伝説を残してきた男が祝日の夕べを彩る。
Platinum Pied PipersやThe Jazz Katsの結成、セルフレーベル〈Bling47〉と〈Dirt Tech Reck〉の運営、そして〈Jazzy Sport〉〈Sound Signature〉〈Fat City〉といった名だたるレーベルからの作品発表。そのいずれにおいても、ソウルに根差した音楽性をデトロイトのテクノとハウスミュージックのタフな鼓動に乗せて自身のビジョンとともに愚直に打ち出すWaajeedは、まぎれもない音楽家だ。そのことは、昨年のアルバム「From The Dirt」でも実証されている。
クラブミュージックだけに収まることのないWaajeedの音楽観を存分に体験してもらうべく、イベントの開催時間は夕方に設定。心と身体を激しく揺り動かすエモーショナルな瞬間をお届けする。

「Heavy-bumping, hyper-modern soul music straight from Detroit」
Waajeed has lived many lives in music already, but they’re all bound to the same pursuit of true soul music in a modern context. He got his start with the legendary Slum Village, arguably Detroit’s most infamous hip-hop crew, before moving on to producer Dwele’s first album, Rize. Since then, Waajeed has been relentlessly productive, from forming the mighty Platinum Pied Pipers and The Jazz Kats to forming his own labels Bling47 and Dirt Tech Reck, releasing on Jazzy Sport, Sound Signature, Fat City and much more besides.
With musicality rooted in soul, the tough pump of Motor City techno and house music in his veins and a forthright personality to carry his musical vision, Waajeed is the real deal. Just check last year’s triumphant From The Dirt LP if you need more proof.
To add further fuel to this night, Waajeed’s appearance takes place in the evening on a national holiday, so there’s no excuse to not be fully locked in for this one.
