The aim of this workshop is to enable you to write and produce cutting edge electronic club oriented tracks with the employment of a limited set of machines. This workshop is focused on ENHANCING YOUR CREATIVITY by teaching various SAMPLING TECHNIQUES and SYNTHESIS BASED FREQUENCY MODULATION using Elektron devices.
We will show how sampling can be considered a stand alone synthesis technique and how far FM synthesis can take you in the territory of SOUND DESIGN. We will encourage you to undertake a machine-only style of PRODUCTION based on advanced MIDI sequencing, and suggest a workflow based around machine interaction.
You will learn how to choose different machines for your ARTISTIC REQUIREMENTS and how to set up your own MIDI studio.
You will acquire the fundamentals to explore the sound palette of FM SYNTHESIS with an accent on the infinite creative possibilities at your disposal, if this technique is approached in an experimental way.

About the machines:
DIGITAKT AND DIGITONE are two of the latest additions to the tremendous Elektron catalogue. In spite of their compactness, they are without a doubt two studio and live performance destroyers.
DIGITAKT is a sampler with 8 voice polyphony and subtractive synthesis ability, equipped with a powerful and flexible 8 track MIDI sequencer.
DIGITONE is a cutting edge FM groovebox, which encloses under its knobs all the potential of frequency modulation synthesis, unveiling parameter edits as quickly as ever. It also comes with an uncompromising 4 track sequencer.
Workshop info:
• Our Elektron workshop is not a product presentation!
• Our aim is to take a deep look into the two machines‘ operations underlining Elektron’s distinctive features, POINTING OUT THEIR EXTRAORDANARY CREATIVE CAPABILITIES.
• We will also discuss the basic principle of Frequency Modulation synthesis, and examine the sound design capabilities of these machines.
• We will combine theory with a full hands-on approach designed to encourage you to become familiar with the machines.
• We provide 6 machines with 3 workplaces, each workplace consisting of both a Digitakt and a Digitone. This means that hands-on use is guaranteed.
Our coach Domenico Cipriani a.k.a. Lucretio is a graduated electronic music producer. One half of the Analogue Cops, co-founder of Restoration Records, he has been a regular collaborator of artists such as Blawan, Steffi, and Ryan Elliott, to name a few. He has released more than 100 vinyl records throughout these years and has remixed artists such as Moodymann and Scan7. Domenico has been teaching music production since the early 2010, and he is one of the Italian associate artists of Elektron. His recent research is in sound design and programming language with Symbolic Sound Kyma.
