数万枚とも言われる膨大なレコードコレクションを持つDJであり、モジュラーシンセをこよなく愛し、バンドを率いて砂漠でレコーディングを行うプロデューサーであり、神経科学の博士号までをも持つエレクトロニック・ミュージック・シーンにおける随一の奇才、Floating Pointsが12月21日のKEWLの2周年パーティーに登場！
2000年代の後半にダブステップが猛威を奮っていたUKのシーンにFloating Pointsはさっそうと現れた。Egloレーベルからの12インチが早耳リスナーの耳を掴んで話題になり2011年の”Shadows”EPでその人気はジャンルを超えて一躍トップ・アーティストの仲間入りを果たした。2015年にはデビュー・アルバム”Elaenia”をリリースするとPitchforkやResident Advisorなど世界的権威である音楽メディアがこれを大絶賛。バンドを率いてのモハーヴェ砂漠でのフィールド／レコーディングのプロジェクトなどファンの期待を良い意味で常に裏切る活動を経て、今年には全世界待望のセカンド・アルバム”Crush”をリリースした。
DJとしてのスキルももちろん高く評価されている。ロンドンの伝説のクラブPlastic Peopleで磨きをかけられたそのセンスは、ハウス、テクノからジャズ、クラシック、サイケロック、さらにはブラジリアン・ポップスと多岐にわたり、音楽ジャンルの境界線を消してしまうかのようなセレクションでまさに予測が不可能な、現場のみでしか体験し得ないものである。
Floating Pointsが今回出演するKEWLは2017年のローンチ以来、Hunee、Tom Trago、Legoweltといったアーティストを招聘し、毎回熱気溢れるフロアを創り出す東京屈指のパーティーと言っても過言ではないだろう。つい先日はBradley Zeroを招聘し初のオープンエアーパーティーも成功を納めた。ジャンルレスにセレクションされた音楽を提供することをテーマにするKEWLとまさにそれを体現してきたFloating Pointsによるシナジーが奇跡的に生み出す”爆発的な”瞬間瞬間をフロアで直に体感してほしい。

As a DJ he selects from a massive record collection of tens of thousands of vinyl, and as a producer, not only is he a lover of modular synths, he's been a band leader and even recorded them out in the desert. Oh and if that wasn't enough, he also has a PhD in neuroscience. Floating Points, a literal genius, will be gracing the stage at VENT on December 21st for KEWL's 2nd year anniversary party, so don't miss it!
Floating Points jaunted onto the UK scene while it was in the midst of the dubstep craze of the late 2000s. The 12 inches he released on the Eglo print quickly caught the attention of early listeners and became a hot topic, and in 2011 the Shadows EP rose to popularity, collapsing genre barriers and quickly making Floating Points a notable member of amongst top artists. In 2015, he released his debut album Elaenia, which received high acclaim from top global media outlets like Pitchfork and Resident Advisor. Subsequently, he ended up betraying his fans' expectations (in a good way) with a new project by forming a band and taking them to the Mojave Desert to take some field recordings and then incorporating it into his long-awaited second album Crush, this year.
Obviously Floating Points' skills as a DJ come highly regarded. His sensibilities when it comes to selecting and mixing have been honed at the legendary London club, Plastic People. His style and genres are all over the map, incorporating house, techno, jazz, classical, psychedelic rock, and even Brazilian pop music - absolutely demolishing the imaginary genre borders and dropping sets that are both dope and unexpected; this is something you can only experience live and direct at his shows.
KEWL is a popular party that was launched back in 2017, and historically has brought over top acts like Hunee, Tom Trago, and Legowelt; it's no exaggeration to say that every one of these parties were some of the best part in Tokyo, at the time. Just recently, they invited Bradley Zero to their first open air party, and it was a smashing success.
