Local Connections: An exhibition of community-led housing projects in Lewisham
Lewisham has a culture and history of successful housing projects led, and sometimes built, by the local community. From Sanford New Cross in the 1970s to Brasted Close planned for 2021, the people of Lewisham have generated their own solutions to housing shortages. Each of these projects has a personality and a story. They offer ideas about the role communities could play in shaping their built environment and building their own homes.
Supported by the RUSS School of Community-Led Housing and the London Community-Led Housing Hub.
___ ABOUT RUSS
The Rural Urban Synthesis Society is a Community Land Trust based in South London. Our aim is to create sustainable, community-led neighbourhoods and truly affordable homes. We just finished building a community hub in Ladywell, and we’re building 33 homes on the same site that are co-designed and partly self-built by the future residents. We spread our model and support other groups through the RUSS School of Community-Led Housing and an ongoing programme of public events.
