The Other Records's famous weekend in-store comes to Joburg for the first time! It's Some Sundays, Jozi Edition!
To celebrate our first proper trip up north as The Other Records, we're setting up shop inside The Third Place for an entire Sunday of colourful music and killer records. We've invited an easy-choice lineup of our favourite selectors in Joburg to come have some fun with us, spinnin' tunes throughout the day to maintain the vibe, starting early at 9am and running 'til around 6pm.
We'll be flying up some of the latest and best records from our shop, so if there's any specific record you've been eyeing on our instagram, please let us know so we can bring it for you! We're packing our Yoco and Snapscan, so you can pay card or phone (our preferred payment methods). Records will be for sale for the duration of the event.
As a bonus for getting up early/staying up all night, anyone who comes before 12:00 gets in for free. It'll be R50 entrance after that.

We've got LA CASA TROPICAL, Joburg's best kept secret for all things bubblegum, a truly international Canadian bringing good vibes wherever he trods, with a thoroughly rated record store behind his name to boot. We've been following in the footsteps of this man's musical footprint, and elated to finally walk alongside him.
Nadia Sanetra, part of the important all-femme music collective Not Sorry Club (responsible for bringing down Umfang and SHYBOI of the Discwoman crew) and an incredible DJ in her own right, will be joining Some Sundays for the second time! The first one was incredible, there's no reason the second time won't be.
Flames Shilowa, also known through his association with The Fly Machine Sessions, is the kind of selector that changes peoples' minds. Not a pleaser of the mainstream, he's a scholar of music through practice, which makes perfect, which sounds amazing. He's been down in Cape Town, visited the shop a few times. And now we know him. Do you know him?
The Other DJs are loud on the outskirts of the norm, consisting of Cape Town's three busiest music boys. Why so busy? They dedicate themselves to connecting people to music — vinyl at The Other Records, airwaves on The Other Radio, movement in The Other Events, grafting with The Other Works and praise with hands lifted high when they don their uniforms as The Other DJs. Now we're in Joburg for the weekend ;)
