Our fifth Stranjjur NYC event continues down the house-laden path which we've been paving since September. This is a very special event, in that it pays homage to both the old school and the new school, while remaining true to the true Chicago/NYC sound that we know and love so dearly.
This is a double showcasing of two of house music most brilliant minds. First, we have Seattle's Dave Pezzner, who's been on the warpath over the past year - taking the world by storm by unleashing some of the most unique and imaginative productions in house music. With widely supported originals and remixes under his belt, on labels such as Freerange, OM, Urbantorque and Plastic City (to name a few), it appears Pezzner is here to stay. And his stock is rising rapidly.
Next we have the notorious A.S.P. There are not many artists who have been as revered or as well-respected within house music over the past 10+ years than Chicago veteran, Mazi (aka Audio Soul Project). With his work appearing on labels such as Global Underground, Ovum, NRK, Urbantorque, Tuning Spork and of course his own Fresh Meat imprint, Mazi has earned his production and DJ stripes many times over, and we welcome him back to NYC on Feb 5th, with open arms.
Starting the night off will be the organizers and residents, Stranjjur, aka Kev Obrien, Billy Disciple and Francisco V. If history has shown our guests anything, they've learned that Stranjjjur NYC events are an exercise in proper musical direction and flow, throughout the night. With Stranjjur on warmup duties, you can bet the evening will get off on the right note early.
