『シカゴ・アンダーグラウンドのリエディット職人Rahaan来日』
30年以上もシカゴのアンダーグラウンドシーンを牽引しながら、近年ではDekmantelやBoiler Roomといった世界中の旬な現場で活動を続けるRahaan。荒々しくも魂の込もったミキシングとイコライジングによって、ソウル/ディスコ/ガラージ/ディープハウスを猥雑に織り交ぜ、黒いグルーヴの最もドープな瞬間をフロアにもたらす。そのパフォーマンスはシカゴの伝説Ron Hardyのスタイルに最も近いと評されている。また、Rahaan自身が手掛けたプライベートのリエディットやレアなディスコチューンを含むプレイリストは、中古レコード市場にも影響を与え、ヴァイナルディガーから常に注目される存在である。共演にはRahaanにも劣らない長いキャリアを誇るSoichi TeradaとShinichiro Yokotaの盟友が久々にタッグを組んでライヴを披露する。若き女流堀師Mayu Kakihataもアナログレコード向けにチューンナップされたサウンドシステムの魅力を引き出してくれるだろう。Contactフロアでは、MONKEY TIMERS率いるDISKO KLUBBの面々が登場。Foyerフロアをオーガナイズする、三軒茶屋を拠点とするディスコマニア垂涎のパーティDISCO PLAYにも注目だ。
「Chicago’s underground re-edit master Rahaan returns」
Rahaan has been leading the underground scene in Chicago for more than 30 years, and continues to stay active on a global scale appearing in Dekmantel and Boiler Room. His performance style, said to be head to head with Chicago legend Ron Hardy, brings the dopest grooves to the dance floor blending Soul/Disco/Garage/Deep House with rough yet soulful mixing and equalizing techniques. Rahaan’s playlists including his own private re-edits of rare disco tunes are always sought after by vinyl diggers and record shops. Soichi Terada and Shinichiro Yokota, both having long careers, team up for a live performance for this occasion. Completing the lineup in the main room, tuned for analogue records bringing out the best of the sound system, is the female digger Mayu Kakihata.
Foyer Floor, organized by DISCO PLAY, will also be something to look out for. The contrast between the long-careered Rahaan and the free-spirited Mr. Ties should be one that leaves a mark in dance music history.
