Having initially made a reputation playing marathon sets at Berlin’s Club Der Visionaere, Binh calmly yet assuredly rose beyond the German capital’s night circuit fame, headlining clubs worldwide while amassing a string of EP’s on Perlon, DJ Masda’s Cabaret Recordings and his own Time Passages imprint. His hypnotic and loopy productions are comprised of straightforward percussion, murky basslines, and sparse blasts of melody, and echo late nineties tech house, early UK techno and electro. The same minimal flair trickles through Binh’s dj sets, as he combines a candid desire to have fun with a focus on deep dug selections. Resident Advisor summarized this approach nicely: “ Like the man himself, the best reason for catching a Binh set is pleasantly uncomplicated: go and see him play when you want to hear music you're not going to hear anywhere else”.
Lawrence Le Doux
Lawrence Le Doux has been unhurriedly crafting an intricate musical palette that meanders through - among other genres - hazy electro, proto house, krautrock and IDM with the rhythm of the dancefloor as a pliable lead. His tracks composed of lo-fi melancholy, drum machine jams, and experimental melodic reverie, have been released on Brussels’ blue chip Vlek label and John Talabot’s Hivern Discs. Before seeing this hometown hero head into the summer festival season, with key appearances scheduled at Primavera Sound and Dekmantel, we are excited to have him play an authentically uncompelled set in the FFORMATT basement.
Innershades
Electronic body music, acid house, rude electro, nineties trance,… The genres that influenced Innershades’ raw yet wistful productions sound like what could well be the OST to the golden age of Belgian club life. The rugged ambience additionally present in his back catalogue incites drawing a parallel to the stark, rainy environment of his hometown, a former industrial hub. Even though Innershades’ music has stayed faithful to its core tenets, it nonetheless quickly outgrew these geographical and historical surroundings - and landed him spots on labels such as Crème Organization, Pinkman, Hot Haus Recs, Clone Jacked For Daze and Time Passages, and line-ups all over Europe and beyond.
