It’s been a year since Gene On Earth made his debut Down Under.
Meanwhile, he has traversed the globe, leaving a tastemaker’s mark on some of the world’s most esteemed floors. He also released a killer LP on his Limousine Dream imprint, trailblazing with his unparalleled musical identity: nugs galore.
Now, it’s high time the Wizard of Oz makes his return. We are ecstatic to welcome Gene back to the Oblique arena to take us on another wild ride through his charismatic collection.
In a remarkably short period of time, Gene has humbly risen to the top of his game. An insatiable digger, Gene’s enthusiasm for his craft never wanes. His all-embracing record collection and a tidy body of released work have elevated Gene to an artist whose influence is comparable to that of his inspirations.
Dexterously gliding between genres, re-contextualising forgotten gems amidst unreleased material from his contemporaries, Gene’s approach is not necessarily new. But it’s the heart of his musical ethos that shines the brightest. In all he does, Gene embodies an uncomplicated attitude that speaks to the very core of what we love most about dance music: sharing quality tunes with good mates.
In the vein of this ethos, support on the night will be provided by all three of Oblique’s residents: Ben Bracken, Tom Ackroyd and Wilf Gray. This reunion will also be our first party at Oxford Underground and we couldn’t be more excited to give its crisp system a proper rinse – Oblique style.
