COMMON is a decentralised music festival taking place from 12–21 MAR 2021, made by and for grassroots music communities around the globe, based on tools and structures centred on collective action.
The Other Radio was invited to curate one of the rooms in the festival! We took up the challenge and approached this new medium with fervour: we pulled together a panel discussion on the state of music consumption in South Africa with some of our favourite voices across the scene; captured the first-ever solo live performance from ace drummer and producer, Fernando Damon; a steady, minimal-inspired afterhours DJ set by Ady Fleming and Ricardo Pinto representing our friends from Johannesburg, The Upper Room Tune; and finally, a two-hour exclusive from Search Questival, the video game festival we created in response to the pandemic, featuring all original sets by Rose Bonica, Xee & Codekid, Buli, Deep Aztec, S2, Tzara and Seventhgaze, previously only accessible by playing the game in full. Damn!
