With lockdown now being lifted on the 19th of July, our next event will be hosted on the 1st Friday with 0 restrictions! And what better place to host it at than the courtyard at The Old School House in Hull.
And we do it with Guest Dj/Producer - Friend Within!
After signing to the Toolroom in 2018, Friend Within finally unveils his debut album titled 'Hope'. An established producer in his own right, having worked with countless DJs and producers over the years Friend Within has come full circle with his debut album 'Hope'. Written during lockdown in 2020, it is a collection of his finest tunes to date, packed full of club bangers and dancefloor fillers leaving little room to disappoint.
With releases on DFTD, Rinse, Dirtybird, PETS, Hypercolour, Method Records, a Radio1 Essential Mix, Diverse DJ support from the likes Pete Tong, MistaJam, Derrick Carter, Annie Mac, Oliver Heldens, Eats Everything and Carl Cox, plus a wealth of remixes, Friend Within is a ‘producer’s’ producer and having spent the last 4 years consistently delivering what is technically known as ‘bangers’ from early EP’s such as The ‘Renegade EP’ to the twisted Hypercolour release ‘The Underground EP’. 2014 saw a notable collaboration with Disclosure on ‘The Mechanism’ soon followed and supporting them on their biggest ever UK headline show. With further support coming from a huge range of publications, Friend Within started his has his own label, He Loves You self-releasing his blurring take on house music. With a diary that has covered The Warehouse Project, Chibuku, XOYO, We Are FSTVL, Creamfields, Parklife, Fabric & European cities and festivals, Friend Within has also demonstrated his massively rising popularity with tours of Australia and the USA. Counting performances on the heralded party that is The Holy Ship! and Mexico’s EDC festival. Fast forward to 2018 and recently having released ‘Make Me Feel’ (Dirtybird) and the quirky ’Get Dumb’ (DFTD) and ‘Burnin’ Up’ with Kideko (Rinse) gaining huge support at Radio1, eventually making its way to the Radio1 daytime Playlist.
Support comes from CTRL ALT Del frontman and without of doubt one of Hull's greatest house talents Danny Eyles. Recently welcomed as a resident after his top draw set at our last event in April.
We also bring Chris J out or retirement. Chris was a huge player back in the Sexylectro era at the Zebra club and later on working with Carl Shawn at Jaz Bar for house music event, Strawberries & Cream. Chris always delivers consistently and we are proud to bring him back to entertain the Vanity crowd!
And of course, we have our resident Carl Shawn who has been busy working away in the studio producing some new music which will be getting a road test as he plays the closing set of the event.
We also will be utilising the services of VDJ, Simon Ireland who will be delivering the mind-blowing visuals for the evening.
