Originally intended to be a headliner, it’s only fitting that this event will be a tribute to 1love’s label partner, Paul Johnson.
August 4th 2021, the world lost one of its greatest. Paul Johnson is the man responsible for creating the 1999 international dance floor banger, “Get, Get, Down” which is still played in regular rotation around the planet. To the world, Paul Johnson, was a prolific Chicago House Music DJ/producer, who’s 30 year career includes making tracks for iconic labels such as Dance Mania, Relief Records, Defected, Cajual Records, and Dust Traxx to name only a few.
To many, Paul Johnson, was a teacher and an influencer. His ability to seamlessly create bass heavy beats with hypnotic melodies while staying true to his quintessential Chicago House sound inspired and shaped the stylings of many to include, Daft Punk.
A few were lucky enough to call him just “Paul”, he was a true friend and a brother. The latter embodied Paul Johnson’s true spirit, to most who knew him, he was a friend. This charismatic, wheelchair bound man saw no limits to what he could achieve.
With Paul Johnson, all roads led back to music and family, it’s now our job to ensure his legacy lives on. Please join his One Love family as we honor our friend and label owner, Paul Johnson, best known for his dynamic style, undeniable musical influence and extraordinary talent and work ethic.
