Africa’s essential electronic music festival Nyege Nyege is back after a 2 year hiatus. With over 200 shows internationally, the festival and its associated labels and collective have defined the vanguard of new sounds emerging from the Continent. A festival built on love, resilience and passion for music, Nyege Nyege is going all-in this year, collaborating with collectives from across the Continent, as well as online radios invited to present at the festival; with a special emphasis this year on visual art installations, innovative stage design, a luxurious camping experience and new tourism activities, including rafting the Nile rapids all the way to the shores of the festival! 2022 will also celebrate a new home for the festival, taking place on the shores of the river Nile in a breathtaking forest opposite the majestic Itanda Falls. By upgrading to a brand new site, Nyege Nyege is confident that it will be able to offer revelers a more comfortable and safe experience, while putting Itanda on the map as one of East Africa’s most exciting tourism destinations. The festival will also explore a hybrid combination of digital experience and in-person event, hosting its signature event in Uganda, while connecting with the world through cutting edge virtual experiences, including digital art exhibitions and augmented reality experiences, drawing on its highly acclaimed covid hybrid edition of 2020, which brought together 40+ collectives and was followed by over 8 million people. Conscious of the environmental impact of the festival, Nyege Nyege will partner with Bamboo Uganda to advocate for the use of bamboo and offset its carbon footprint by planting bamboo. ACCOMMODATION** Each campsite section has its own entrance with 24 hr security. All camps have clean toilet & shower facilities and safe storage areas. Bring Your Own Forest Camp - Secure well lit camp in forested area with shade and plenty of clean toilet & shower facilities. Ready Erected Tents: Purple Pine Camp - Large new comfortable 4 person tents with 2 new high density foam mattresses in a secure shaded camp with river views. Glamping: Rapids View Camp - Comfortable lockable tent style wooden cottages with a double air -mattress provided & care pack provided in a secure shaded camp with incredible views of the rapids. Glamping Khapela: South African Village Large spacious canvas tent with 2 stretcher beds, sheets, pillow and LED lamp, clean showers & toilets, bonfire experience and chill out area with views on the rapids.
