It’s time to reflect on what we have collectively experienced and achieved over the past year. Launching a new event in Berlin, and facilitating the birth of our beautiful community, while still in the midst of the pandemic was not an easy feat. Our hearts are fulfilled and we are exploding with gratitude from the love we have been receiving and seeing our baby grow. A massive thank you to everyone who keeps coming to our gatherings, spreads the word and nurtures our community to be so alive and kicking!
On Saturday October 15th we will be celebrating our first year of existence at ÆVE, Berlin, with an ever-incredible line-up bound to have your legs wobbling and minds hypnotised. To previous attendees, the deck-steering hall of fame that will be handling the party's reins over shall ring a bell, since we'll welcome back Kiwi (Crossbreed) and Chloé (Lumière Noire/Permanent Vacation) for the second round of their LbC fantasies, alongside our in-house residents: La Schmock, Elninodiablo & Sudha Kheterpal, (live percussion), Adam Munnings, plus three guest new additions we're craving to see perform - Jaxx TMS of Slic Unit, Freerange affiliate, DJ Philippa and DJ Aya (none/such).
Sister ship to ÆDEN, of which it is only separated by two beautiful gardens, ÆVE is no other than the new skin of legendary Berlin venue, Chalet club, which has been home to so many incredible memories for all of us until its closure a few years ago, and whose spirit we pledge to carry on through our string of upcoming LbC events.
As long as ÆVE works well for us it will not only shelter this special gathering but also the subsequent parties we will be hosting throughout the winter, before we take up residence at ÆDEN again for summer season 2023. Technically speaking, this means we expand the party to three floors including 2 dance floors, 2 lounge areas, the garden and our LOVEROOM.
Yet again, true to our mission of creating the most idyllically free, euphoric, sex-positive haven for ravers to indulge in we have put on what we deem a sparkling image of the diversity flowing at LbC with a line-up that gives room for all to bring forth their inner passions, radical self-expression, and uninhibited creativity. Queer, LGBTQi, non-binary, PoC, trans, gender bender and everything in-between, our fold is the widest, safest, and also the wildest as also ensured by our ever-incredible team of hosts: Alvin Collantes, Artis, Nancy Grrrl!, Purrja and more tbc.
Timeline-wise, the main floor's warm-up (10:00-00:00) will be taken care of by our beloved resident and Gegen/Italo Moderni fellow, La Schmock, whose synth-heavy EBM blends will beckon us onto the path of retro-laced luvin' and jiggin' as the perfect hors-d'oeuvre for the night to come. Crossbreed (London) founder Kiwi will pick up the torch (00:00-03:00) and treat us to their versatile touch, lithely bending between vintage disco, house and electro, and damn sure ready to turn the dance floor alight.
Iconic resident duo Elninodiablo and Sudha Kheterpal will then proceed to beam their own blend of playful and infectious drum-driven gospel across the room (03:00-06:00) with an avalanche of percussive feel-goodness. Taking over with three hours (06:00-09:00) of intrinsic machine funk and synth-smithery better tasted in the dark, French producer Chloé (Thenevin) will channel dancefloor shamanism and sexual energies to build a momentum of strobe-lit poetics she only holds the secret to.
Last but not least (09:00 – end), from Zurich to London to Berlin, DJ AYA (none/such) is one of the most exciting personalities to emerge from this city's underground in recent months. They captivate listeners with their distinctive, punchy sound and inimitable, high-energy presence. DJ AYA will send us off on a euphoric high for an unforgettable night.
On the second floor, equal amounts of body-jacking, soul-fulfilling vibes will be showering upon the ravers thanks to Jaxx TMS (00:00-02:00) – Berlin based selector and member of the DJ Network SLIC Unit, is very well known for her eclectic and wide musical range. Mixing a wide spectrum of influences and genres from dancehall to soul, jazz as well as hip hop, funk and especially electronic rhythms, shaped her unique way of her DJ sets and creates her very own energetically sound.
Next in line, LbC co-founder and visual artist-in-chief Adam Munnings (02:00-04:00) will be keeping dancers on their toes with his ever colourful, diverse and high-octane spin, before DJ Philippa tops things off (04:00-06:00) on a jaunty tip, pulling out her deliciously smooth and suave palette of jazzed-out funkiness, Chicagoan shuffle and soulful unctuosity for a lush, spirited and all-around euphoric finale.
