FUSE MAY DAY RAVE
With a headline set from Matthias Tanzmann, the return of Liefko (Afrilounge) and Anthea, plus a Fuse debut from David Labeij, Fuse’s reputation for delivering outstanding music will be confirmed over and over again throughout this May Day Rave. After April’s roadblock Easter Rave with Guido Schneider we’ll be drafting in extra toilets and making more of parts of the venue accessible, to ensure a smoother journey around the two indoor rooms and the courtyard outside. Sundays at Fuse are an essential bank holiday daytime session, and this Fuse May Day Rave is all set to be the best yet.
MATTHIAS TANZMANN
The Moon Harbour boss returns to Fuse Bank Holiday action after an exhilarating set in August 2009. The work Matthias Tanzmann has done for over ten years has now firmly established him as one of Germany’s most accomplished artists. From his legendary residency at The Distillery in Leipzig, to building Moon Harbour into such a respected label, Matthias has made a significant contribution to dance music in his homeland. Further afield he has had an equally powerful impact, headlining parties from Moscow to Ibiza and around the world. We are very proud to welcome him back to Fuse where his sound and style find a willing audience and a natural home.
LIEFKO (AFRILOUNGE)
As with Tanzmann we at Fuse have a long and happy history with Markus Liefke, stretching back to our earlier Circuit parties. Up until now he has always played for us as Afrilounge, of whom he is one third. However from now on we will enjoy his wonderfully deep sets under his own production name of Liefko. As well as his numerous achievements with Afrilounge he is proving no slouch on his own with his ‘Free Your Mind’ track celebrated by everyone from Loco Dice to Laurent Garnier. Branding aside the one thing that doesn’t change is the natural depth he generates in his sound, which will be an inspiring presence playing out across 93 early in this daytime session.
DAVID LABEIJ – LIVE
A force in the Dutch dance music scene for many years now, David Labeij has consistently made waves whether as a producer, DJ or promoter. Early on he ran the infamous "Berlin Underground" nights in Amsterdam, featuring Richie Hawtin, Zip, Magda, and Ricardo Villalobos. Simultaneously he started producing his own music which has led to some notable releases on Remote Area. In 2006 he formed Polder with Lauhaus and their hypnotic take on house and techno has been well received. Despite DJing since 1998 it’s only in the last few years David has developed his live set, and it’s this deep dubbier sound that he will perform live on the stage at Fuse.
ENZO SIRAGUSA
With a debut set at Fabric in April and bookings for both Bar 25 and Weekend in Berlin later this year it seems like more people are waking up to what the Fuse faithful have known for a long time. Enzo Siragusa’s emotive and dubby house and techno sound has helped make Sunday daytimes the focus in many people’s clubbing calendars. His awesome debut track ‘Himba Raindance’ was a bonafide Fuse classic before release, when it went on to be supported by Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell and Seth Troxler. Expect more quality releases from Enzo this year as his intuitive use of drums, bass and a deep groove continue to move dance floors where ever he plays.
ANTHEA
Quite simply one of the most exciting artists London has produced in the last few years; there is always a palpable air of excitement when ever Anthea gets on the decks. Having worked her way up through the ranks, Anthea has undoubtedly earned the plaudits which are now coming her way. Productions for the likes of Freak’n’Chic and Cecille have demonstrated a real funk-driven cutting edge style, deep and tribal with serious basslines. This sound is emphasised in her engaging DJ sets which have an undeniable depth and soul.
RICH NXT
Famed first for his after party sets, Rich NXT has the natural ability to build and layer sounds which always seem to move and lift the dance-floor. 2009 saw well received releases on Mighty Rumble, No. 19 and Sonat. With more to look forward to in 2010, either as a DJ or producer, Rich NXT is certainly a name to look out for.
BEN RAU
Growing up in West Germany had a profound effect on our resident. It has instilled in him a passion for electronic music, very evident in his sound today. A self confessed techy, he has a gift for using technology to embellish his natural vibe. His deep house and Detroit techno sound is always a welcome presence at Fuse, and is much anticipated on his own forthcoming productions.
