We are really delighted to host the affiliated artists of MFM again in arkaoda. You can expect breathtaking oddities where the listening experience leads to the discovery of new imagined landscapes.
Jonny Nash:
Jonny Nash began his career whilst living in Japan during the 2000’s, releasing his first records on Kenji Takimi’s seminal label Crue-l. Relocating to London, Nash released a number of records on Lovefingers ESP Institute before starting Melody As Truth in 2014 as an outlet for his work. MAT launched with Nash’s blissful ambient EP Phantom Actors and was followed in 2015 by the album Exit Strategies, which highlighted Nash’s ability as a multi-instrumentalist.
His 2017 Eden, recorded in Bali, received praise for its compositional skill. MAT is also a home to regular collaborator Suzanne Kraft, who has released two solo albums on the label and the collaborative Nash/Kraft album Passive Aggressive in 2017.
Nash works closely with the Amsterdam label Music From Memory, releasing a solo album for the label, entitled “Make A Wilderness” in 2019. He has also released two albums on MFM as Gaussian Curve alongside Gigi Masin and Marco Sterk aka Young Marco in 2015 and 2017.
An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Nash’s live performances are a constantly evolving hybrid of acoustic and electronic improvisations centred on guitar and piano.
Jamie Tiller:
Originally from London, Jamie relocated to Berlin after a number of years spent in Amsterdam, where he set up Music From Memory along with Tako Reyenga. Music From Memory is widely regarded as one of the most exciting labels to have emerged within the last ten years. The label has become synonymous with the release of visionary electronic music from the past as well as the present. Together, Jamie and Tako also run Second Circle, a label specialising in genre-bending dance music.
Jamie most recently compiled and put together the much anticipated ‘Virtual Dreams: Ambient Explorations In The House & Techno Age, 1993-1997'. Along with Tornado Wallace, he also set up the label Basic Spirit for their own productions, with their first release Heart Sphere - E.R. (Emergency Relief) released earlier this year.
Vio DJ:
Berlin-based DJ Curtis Barber has been collecting records and presenting radio shows as Vio DJ for almost 15 years. His monthly show on the German satellite outpost of LA-based radio station dublab meanders through a myriad of genres, whilst contributions to mix series such as Bar Part Time, c-minus, Left Alone and Krossfingers, as well as regular radio transmissions on NTS, showcase his propensity for unearthing interesting records and tying them together with a unique narrative touch.
