Gaye Su Akyol ist eine der spannendsten Stimmen der Istanbuler Musikszene und liefert jetzt mit Anadolu Ejderi (Anatolischer Drache) ein unvergesslich kraftvolles viertes Album ab.
Und sie hat die Palette erweitert: Angefangen mit anatolischem Folk und Pop fängt sie afrikanische und nahöstliche Klänge, die Soul-Revolution, Disco und Rockmusik aus anderen Kulturen ein. Das klassische Rock-Trio aus Gitarre, Bass und Schlagzeug wird von traditionellen Instrumenten wie Geige, Oud, Elektro-Baglama, Cümbüş und Sazbüş begleitet.
Textlich widmet sie sich den politischen Zeitläuften der Türkei und einem politischen Klima, in dem bereits das Bekenntnis einer Frau zu ihrer sexuellen Identität revolutionär ist. Starting with Anatolian folk and pop, she captures African and Middle Eastern sounds, the soul revolution, disco and rock music from other cultures. The rock guitar, bass and drum trio are now accompanied by traditional instruments such as violin, oud, electro baglama, cümbüş, sazbüş.
Lyrically, she addresses Turkey's political times and a political climate in which even a woman's confession of her sexual identity is revolutionary. Driven by a strong urge for personal and political freedom, she is more uncompromising than ever with her mixture of Turkish psychedelia, powerful commentaries and retro-futuristic sounds.
