The Hydra celebrates the influence of Plastic People on London’s nightlife
Founded in 1994 by Ade Fakile, Plastic People was synonymous with a unifying, explorative approach to music and community for two decades. With residents that included Floating Points, Four Tet, Carl Craig and Theo Parrish, to this day Plastic People is still discussed amongst club fans in hallowed terms.
Whether taking a formative hand in birthing the early dubstep scene, offering a creative hub for up-and-coming producers via its CDR and Co-Op nights, or hosting the weightiest bass selectors in the form of The Bug and Loefah's midweek Bash party, the Plastic People story is one that has echoed through the London underground.
For the third show of its 'Teachers' series, The Hydra evokes Plastic People's roots with a multifaceted lineup featuring Jamie xx's Printworks debut, Actress [DJ set], Artwork, Benji B, Omar S and many more.
The Hydra Series:
Celebrate some of the nights and spaces, past and present, whose breaking of new ground influenced Printworks, The Hydra and club culture in general.
Five gigs across the Easter Bank Holiday (Thursday to Monday inclusive). The names are self-explanatory for those who know, and for those who don’t they represent what we feel will be an unmissable nod to London’s music culture.
