On May 6, at the loft you know and love, UMAMI is proud to present two artists relentlessly pushing forward techno's bleeding edge: Singapore's XHIN and Berlin’s ARTHUR ROBERT. Joining them are San Francisco’s ØBSIDIAN and FAIT ACCOMPLI in an all-night-long lineup critics have described as “dizzying,” “unsettling,” and “the grotesque product of a deranged mind.” True to UMAMI form, we expect the evening to be nothing short of unhinged.
A master of boldly futuristic sound design, Xhin forges reality-warping productions that whisk listeners across twisted psychedelic soundscapes, while his shadowy alter-ego Nihx fashions scorching cuts of grimy industrial techno. Xhin’s blistering DJ sets evince a dark intensity evocative of chaos barely contained, befitting a résumé that includes appearances at Berghain, Bassiani, and Unter's Bed-Stuy mansion fetish saga.
Arthur Robert is an expert purveyor of swirly, trippy, groovy techno, with a burgeoning discography that includes mind-bending releases on Token, Figure, and Hayes. As a DJ, Arthur Robert has earned appearances at Berghain, Bassiani, and Tresor, cultivating a driving, hypnotic style that transports listeners straight to the fraught intersection of paranoia and euphoria.
