KRATER // Bryan Kasenic, Donis, JADALAREIGN, Mike Servito

  • KRATER is a radical collision of fashion design, visual art, and underground techno. Subverting the standard Manhattan runway show, the incubator’s first event brings New York Fashion Week to Bushwick’s House of Yes with an array of emerging designers and some of the city’s top selectors. Designers Femlord, Official Rebrand & Raspaditos, Erik Bergrin, and Giselle will debut new collections and collaborations through a series of disruptive performances, while Nowadays residents Jadalareign and Donis and The Bunker’s Mike Servito and Bryan Kasenic play sets throughout the night. There will also be a pop up market where you can purchase pieces directly from the designers. Join us Monday, February 13, 8p to midnight for the main event and midnight-2a for the afterparty. FURTHER DETAILS: KRATER is an artistic incubator where imagination transcends itself. It is a movement and community space that aims to celebrate the freedom and empowerment of self-expression by unifying design, music, and art. This event will provide a platform for emerging designers pushing the boundaries of fashion as an artistic practice and redefining its meaning. This event is made possible by the Creatives Rebuild New York Guaranteed Income for Artists program, making this celebration for artists by artists a reality. The mainstream fashion industry is built upon the exploitation of labor and natural resources. This event is all about having the power to take action while reimagining a just and equitable fashion system for the people and the planet. Now is the time to rise up together for a regenerative, restorative, and revolutionary new fashion system. This is a celebration of people that are creating art and fashion in support of a more sustainable and transparent fashion industry and this is us reclaiming New York Fashion Week, by having an ANTI-FASHION event. The designers will debut new collections and collaborations through a series of disruptive performances challenging the standard runway show. This event will be groundbreaking for our scene, by bringing NYFW to Bushwick. This is an event for artists by artists, celebrating the importance of sustainable design and giving a platform to emerging, independent designers in our scene to show their work and start a conversation. : : : DESIGNER BIOs : : : FEMLORD aka BRIELLE JENKINS Femlord is an airbrush artist from Florida now living and working in Queens, NYC. More than a mere techno party, The Bunker unites diverse sounds from across the electronic music spectrum, connecting the dots between house, techno, experimental sounds, and much more. The Bunker New York began as a party, grew up into a record label, and has become a collaborative community, fostered by founder and curator Bryan Kasenic since its launch in 2003. DONIS Donis pronounced (DAH-NIS) is a Dominican American DJ born and raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn NY. Their DJ sets play with the rhythmic relationships between the dance music of New York, Chicago/Detroit and Jersey/Baltimore as well as music from all over the African diaspora. Core member of Brooklyn radio station/collective Half Moon. JADALAREIGN Jadalareign grew up as Jada Lorraine an hour north of New York City, where she was first introduced to the vibrant world of music in a household resounding with jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop, and Brazilian music. As a selector and an events programmer, Jada’s involvement in New York’s scene is part of a broader mission to tell the stories of the origins of dance music, a genre that emerged from Black, Latinx, and queer communities across the Midwest, Northeast, and UK. She also maintains a FUBU (For us, by us) approach to her work. In 2019, her first in-person DJ and production workshop series, Community Skillshare, debuted at Powrplnt. At the height of the pandemic, she also collaborated with FIVEBOI and Sam Law to launch an online music production workshop series catered toward marginalized artists, In Session. In 2022, the program moved to Nowadays and the productive year also saw Jada join the Nowadays team as the club’s booker for Friday night programming. Wearing her DJ hat, she also became one of the venue’s most exciting residents. Jada’s talent expands further into production, with her past works being featured on respected New York labels Haus Of Altr and Sorry Records. In 2023, the musician is set to release her debut EP, securing her position as a multi-talented artist that is constantly sharpening and developing her practice. MIKE SERVITO Some DJs burst upon the scene like a supernova, fading just as quickly. Others take years, even decades, to make their way—but those are the ones who make the most impact, thanks to a lifetime of accumulated musical wisdom. Mike Servito is a prime example of the latter. His career is one that’s defined by a slow and steady rise to upper ranks of the deejaying realm—and along the way, he’s perfected a jacking style that equal parts house, acid and techno, a sound that pays homage to the past while being very much of-the-moment. After moving from Detroit to NYC, he soon fell in with the city’s premier techno party, The Bunker, becoming one of its mainstay residents. Around the same time, he was beginning to make his presence known on a global scale, packing dance floors with gigs around the States and around the world. 21+ | No Re-Entry * * * SAFER SPACES POLICY * * * House of Yes is a space for everyone to feel welcome.
