As a DJ and producer, *Marco Shuttle* has refined a signature sound that fuses a gritty minimalism with cosmic psychedelia. Born in Italy and based in Berlin, he maintains an international profile and is a veteran of such institutions as Fabric and Labyrinth festival, while recent DJ and live sets at Berghain’s Elektroakustische Salon, Interdimensional Transmissions in Detroit, and Portugal’s Waking Life Festival indicate a singular artist in top form. His cinematic techno sounds are unusually organic: they build pressure in subtle ways and his meticulous grooves never fail to take listeners on a trip to somewhere new and exciting. Releases on NY’s The Bunker and Italian imprint Spazio Disponible are excellent displays of his vision for atmospheric, cosmic techno. Marco also heads up eerie-records, a label that, in his words, explores “the sonic boundaries between humans and outer space,” and features recent collaborations with Donato Dozzy.
*Mary Yuzovskaya* constructs techno soundscapes with a meticulous precision in both her sets and productions, a skill that has brought her singular success in the crowded artery between New York and Berlin since the mid-2000s. As a veteran to such institutions as Berghain/Panorama Bar, Unter, and Basement NY, she remains an authority in both techno capitals and beyond. In her hands, “vinyl-only” becomes more than medium or method, it’s an ethos—through previous work as a vinyl distribution manager at Brooklyn record store Halcyon and her own label Monday Off (in addition to numerous releases elsewhere), her dedication to the pressing and performance of vinyl records places her among a small class of wax exclusivists on the global techno circuit. Fresh off the release of her latest 12” ‘Cozy’—a record that is as hypnotic as it is architectural—Mary is primed to bring a cone-melting bag of records that will carefully pulse and flow at the discretion of a seasoned expert.
Sparks are likely to fly when *Clarisa Kimskii* steps behind the Softee decks. A long-standing fixture of the East Coast techno scene, her recent re-relocation to Brooklyn from DC has already seen a number of blockbuster appearances at Wrecked, Locked Groove, and Nowadays, as well as a newly-minted residency at Merge. She supplies a mesmerizing take on contemporary techno through sets that layer calculated grooves, lush textures, and sensual vocals, managing to effortlessly blend classic rave sounds with fresh cuts. As a producer, her inclination toward dark and psychedelic sounds has caught the attention of Mary Yuzovskaya, whose Monday Off label has been home to Clarisa’s ‘Verbal Variance’ EP. The two of them on the same night will draw out the electrifying, menacing textures both have become known for.
Brooklyn-based sound engineer, DJ, and producer *Love Letters* (Maxime Robillard) brings his collection to Mizz Softee’s Chill Zone. Through dedicated involvement in NY’s ambient and downtempo circles over the last several years—including a recent performance at Nowadays’ Planetarium series and as one half of Hypnotic Spa—Maxime has cultivated a reserved approach to club music that often expresses a stripped-back funkiness. This sensibility especially shines in releases on Allergy Season, The Bunker, and Mister Saturday Night, which range anywhere from energetic, leftfield house to beatless sonic baths. In the Chill Zone, Softees are bound to hear some sonic ‘love letters’ in the form of tender yet engrossing selections.
