‘A Strange Night’ hosted by London-based duo Awkward Moments is a satellite performance evening that builds an inclusive community around intimate good vibes. A carefully curated lineup of diverse sonic experiences takes the audience on a collective journey of fun, discovery, and awkwardness in the most off beat and underground venues.
With fundraising at its core – from their first show raising money for the refugee crisis, to all subsequent club nights being in aid of charities close to their hearts such as Choose Love & Choose Earth among others – the aim is to build an environment of connection and diversity that breaks down barriers in these increasingly divisive times. Past events have seen DJ sets from Joe Goddard, Benji B, James Massiah, Jack Peñate, Shay Malt, & Peter Adjaye, and live performances from Daria Blum, Nah Eeto, & Tom Rasmussen.
Their next fundraising event will take place from 9pm – 2am on Thursday 16th February at The Cross. Set over two floors in the iconic London club that has recently re-opened, they will welcome an eclectic lineup of DJ sets from legends such as The Clash’s Paul Simonon, and Ewan Pearson, to producer of the moment Tom VR, and new exciting performance artists Awkward Moments, Laima, Israeli collective BĘÃTFÓØT, and Häus of Dons, among many others.
This event is part of In Place of War's year-long collaborative fundrave series 'Around the World in 80 Raves' raising money for the #HACKMUSIC Catalyst fund - a new innovative, pioneering education programme helping to support the development of music makers around the world - particularly in communities facing challenges of conflict, poverty and lack of opportunities.
