  • Chapter 6, Lusus naturae ("freak of nature") Futur.Shock x inklingroom Season 2, Strange Attractor, Volume 2 Lusus naturae ("freak of nature") is the concept that shapes a monstrous yet opulent nature's body and its potential of force. Chapter 6 is a collaboration with inklingroom and will explore the body and its entities' dark sides, manipulating time and space while establishing new spiritual mythologies. This futuristic and unconventional night is devoted to celebrating and moulding 'the other' through dance and sound, a delusion in the collective consciousness that might really exist only in the future. inklingroom // @_inklingroom_ inklingroom is London-based art platform and record label specialising in combining contemporary dance with underground electronic music. Contributing artists // Eve Stainton (performance) Eve Stainton is an artist interested in the politics of uncodeable queer presence and its intersections with race and class. They create multi-disciplinary performance worlds that hold movement practices, digital collage, welded steel, and other invisible forces like waves/imagination/drama, often psychedelic and clashing. Stainton is interested in co-occurence as a way to unravel essentialist thinking, with the intent to create more expansive understandings of the lesbian identity, non-gender/variance, and perceptions of the ‘real’. Notable presentations include: New commission ‘Dykegeist’ for ICA (2021), Tanz Quartier Wien, Vienna (AT), Le Guess Who, Utrecht (UT), Bergen Kunsthall (NO), My Wild Flag Stockholm (SE) Close Encounters, Copenhagen, (DE), Ridley Road Project Space group show (UK), Paradise Row Projects group show (UK), Venice Biennale performance programme with Florence Peake (2019), Block Universe (UK), The Place (UK), Nottingham Contemporary (UK), Crac Occitanie (FR), Sadler’s Wells Lilian Baylis (UK). Features include AQNB, FACT Mag, Dazed Beauty, Twin Magazine. @evestainton About the show // Rubby Garage Geist// Blend for club Interested in how things come together without the need for coherence, Eve will borrow and open out short scenes from their previous performances and place them amongst some fresh research. Left to clash and co-occur. Hollie Miller (performance) Hollie Miller is a visual artist with an interdisciplinary practice using her body as her primary medium to inquire into embodiment. Through the energetic she explores the psychological, philosophical, spiritual and mythological. She often creates rebirth, metamorphosis, shape shifting, embryology and chrysalis imagery around the state of becoming. @hollie___miller Stiletto Silhouette is a dancing surrealist sculpture that playfully explores gravity and the body’s form through mind bending positions. This feminist piece challenges Hans Bellmer’s fetishistic doll sculptures and kinkster fantasies around bondage and restriction through the seductive prowess of stilettos and spandex to an electronic sound score composed of smashing plates, purring cats and distorted techno. Pre-recorded music by Craig Scott. Yraki Yraki is the brainchild of UK-based artist, electronic musician and researcher Mariano Sibilia. Its existence is the manifestation of the inner workings of Sibilia’s mind interacting with the sensations of the outer world propelled into form via synaesthesia. His multi-faceted works span from idiosyncratic sound design for cinematic productions to a broad spectrum of experimental club music. @y.r.a.k.i Keity Pook Keity Pook is an Estonian UK-based choreographer, performance artist and movement director. Her work highlights the individual’s experience in a contemporary world context juxtaposed with natural and sociopolitical environments, representing it through post-internet aesthetical presence. @keity.pook About the show // Yraki live - Freak of Nature (lusus naturae) is a debut live show of London-based Italian composer Yraki with live performance by Estonian choreographer Keity Pook. From sounds inspired by artists' synesthesia and surrendering to an 'other', the experimental composer explores sonic hybrids recalling electronic abstractions and contemporary club music mutations. Taking his explorations of melody, deconstructed beats and allowed his response to being automatic and instinctive, led by an unknown entity. His visualisation of sounds, seeing bodies move as asymmetrical shapes and liquid, means the process leads to a visceral experience which borders on the surreal, with both musician and choreographer exploring the kinetic capabilities of this mystical entity. Yet, the choreography interacts not only with the sonic landscape but also embodies ancient amphibian times' nordic soul beast creature. Commissioned by inklingroom and supported by PRS Foundation, Help Musicians, and Arts Council England. Lauren Duffus (DJ) Lauren Duffus is a London-based producer and dj. She has released Dubplate 07 on London’s AD 93 in 2020. As a producer she creates emotive and collage-like music that deals with grief and loss.
